Rusty is on his way!
 
Teri just sent me a text saying she dropped off Rusty and all is well on that end. The flight leaves at 8 a.m. Eastern and arrives at 3:16 p.m. Alaska time. It'll be a long day for him, but I'll be waiting when he gets here.

Since I've had TWO PMs already about his progress, I thought I'd post the flight number and tracking link in case you guys want to follow his progress. Pray for no delays. He'll be traveling for 11 1/2 hours as it is.

Thats so wonderful that you are taking him in!!! Megan can fell a whole lot better knowing hes in wonderful hands!!!

Hopefully everything will go smooth on the plane ride.

Are you bringing Eddie and Jack to the airport to pick him up?

No. A friend of mine is a longtime dog trainer, and part of what she does is find dogs for families and help the families introduce the dogs into their homes. She's going to the airport with me to pick him up, and we're going to introduce Rusty to Eddie and Jack at a neutral park. Once they meet and get to know each other in that setting, we'll take Rusty to the house.

Arranging the meeting in "Eddie's territory" is just encouraging him to act territorial.

Mike - you are such an Angel for taking Rusty on and helping Megan and Teri. I hope Rusty loves his new home and Jack and Eddie do well with him. Maybe if you tell the boys that Rusty can help defend against the moose.......

Thanks for the tracking info, Mike. You can go take a nap and we'll watch him for you. We know how a new daddy can get when he's waiting for his boy to be delivered!!! Prayers for a safe journey.

Thanks for the update. I've been contemplating whether or not it was too early to call Teri. ;)

Today is gonna be a long day for a lot of us.

Oh, that is such great news! It will be one long day for a lifetime of happiness...just have to remember that! He will be okay :) And Jack and Eddie will love him, I am sure!

That is so neat that you're having a trainer help you introduce them so they get used to each other before entering "Eddie's Territory" AKA your house haha.

Well, I'll be praying all goes well for Rusty and that he LOVES Alaska! Can't wait to see his first video with J & E!

Nah, we'll bring him to the house right after the initial meeting, within an hour or so anyway.

I'm falling asleep, but I want to make sure the flight leaves as scheduled at 8:10 eastern.

LOL, she's awake. I actually woke her up at 4 a.m. her time because I got a message on my answering machine late saying she needed my address to put on the crate. So I called and woke her up only to find out she'd gotten my address another way. This is going to be a long day for her!

3:57, not counting daylight-saving time. So that's 4:57. The good news is, I can sleep in.

Wow. Thats to early. Its almost 8:00 here on the East coast. So the plane should leave in about 10 mins.

Yeah! I'll keep checking on his progress and praying for an easy flight with no delays.

You are doing a very smart thing by having a trainer work with you. I am certain that it will pay off big time.

Hope you get at least a little rest. :)

oh this is so exciting. i can't wait to hear about how well he is doing in his new home. he will be so happy!!!

I bet megan is really torn right now, Megan, hun, our hearts are with you. I know it is hard...but bittersweet, as he is going to such a wonderful home.

This is going to be a long day for everyone involved. Teri & Megan my prayers are with you!!! I hope that Rusty is napping nicely on his journey!!! I cannot imagine how anxious Mike must be!!!!! Mike, this is the most incredible heart warming thing that I have ever heard of someone to do for someone that you never physically met!!! From all your post I always thought you were such a sweet man but now I am sure you are truly an ANGEL!!!! I cannot wait to see how the family takes to Rusty!!! I am sure it is going to be wonderful!!! Me along with all the other YT'ers will be waiting patiently to hear about Rusty's arrival.!!!!
OK I need to stop crying now....my DH thinks I have lost it!!!! lol

He's over Ontario now, will be passing Lk Huron, by the Soo , then over Lk Superior & Canada to Seattle. 34,000 ft @ 438 kts.

What a wonderful thing you did. I know Megan is sad but I am sure she is thrilled to see her Rusty go to someone she cares about and will be able to keep in touch and see how he does.

I hope all goes well when Rusty gets there!
