3 yr old yorkie male needs a beter home Hi, my yorkie is 3 yrs. The first year I got him I was not well. No excuses though I have made a mess of this. He pees, poops indoors, he barks ALL the time, He is frantic when people come over and never stops barking. He is fixed. We are making each other miserable. We love him but if I could find a kind loving yorkie lover to take over... I would do it in a heartbeat. I am sorry yorkie lovers but this is a heartfelt plea for help. Would anyone be kind hearted enough to take over the mess I have made? |
i hope someone can offer him a home...is there a rescue in your area if a good home is not found for him? |
Thats the thing- he has never been hurt or treated badly but he is honestly a mess. I am just going to keep going until I find the right person for him. I told my vet and even said they could return him if he couldn't rebond. ( he is feriously bonded to me). It is just so sad. I have been trying to train him for 3 yrs now. I just want the right person for him. |
yorkie rescues find the right families for yorkies, usually they try to find a family with a yorkie or one familiar with the breed, yorkiesinc is in our area! |
I think I am going to call one to talk to someone in a rescue. There has to be a better environment for him that he could do better than this. I will email that one and see how it works. This is honestly breaking my heart. I had 2 other dogs (not yorkies)very successfully in the past but I think this is it for me. This is awful |
Hi there, I am not sure of where you are located. I am in Southwest VA and have a male and female. Joey I got when he was 12 weeks old. My female was 14.5 months old and wouldn't housebreak. I also had my daughters Pom that was 8 months old and she was hit or miss for the pee pad. However, when I would keep them in a kennel and take them out on the leashes they were trained in about a week. I think its a pack thing. It sounds like you have already had it with him so I don't know if you would want to consider working with the kennel training. Do you use the pad or try to go outdoors? If your not to far from me I would consider taking the little guy we would just need to talk a little in futher detail. Cabella has already ruined my laminate flooring in the hallway so if I had this little guy I don't think he could hurt anything until we could get the training down. My guys are not small Cabella is about 12lbs and Joey is 8 to 9 lbs. How big is your fella? I would be willing to travel also depending on how far. Just let me know. Just don't do anything in haste. It sounds like frustration has set in but you can still tell you love him. Take a deep deep breath, sleep on it and let me know if I can help. Sharon |

OH!!!! Sorry I guess I didn't see this, I didn't think it had anything listed. Guess this wouldn't work out for us, but I am sure there are some Yorkie Lovers in her area. I know it's a really tough decision and it sounds like she really wants what is best for the dog. I'll keep you in prayer that God will give you the strength you need to get through this and he will send someone your way that can help you with your situation. Hugs Sharon |

I suggest you contact the YORKIEINC rescue group. I live just a few towns away from you and if you need to find him a place sooner rather than later he will be welcome here anytime, even tonight! I think we are about 25 min away from each other. The place i mentioned does an awesome job in finding the perfect home and they are very serious on what they do. No judgment, just love for the breed. I love their work and it is very serious. They are responsible and very capable of finding the best home for every yorkie they take in and ANY YORKIE IS ALWAYS WELCOME into their rescue. They will work with him to help him overcome some issues, but also will look for the right family for him based on "who he is"! If you need to find me you can send me a private message and i will give you my home address and my number. Please consider surrender him to Yorkies Inc, they will even come to pick him up. Then it will be peace of mind for you. You will be able to focus on getting your things on track and you can be sure that your yorkie will have the best forever home ever ! And they will provide you all information to confirm it and will be one less thing for you to worry about, as i can clearly see that you love him and YOU ARE DOING THE VERY BEST ! 'Congrats for being strong and for loving him enough to take this hard decision. i know it came from your heart! XOXO |
Wonderful advice Smartpuppiepets. I love Yorkies Inc, and also am more than happy to help with this unfortunate situation. I give much credit to this pet owner for wanting to do the right thing for the dog. Regards to all, Susan, Clover Hill Yorkshire Terriers |

MASS neighbor....Just popping in to see if there are any updates...wish I could take him - but I can't. Good luck. |
Hi, I had 1 yorkie owner request him but she changed her mind. I took him to get groomed for his interview and the groomer had an owner of another little dog come in- they requested I call if it did not work out. See both homes said I might visit or call once in a while. I have not called the yorkie rescues yet because well I love my dog and want to know who he goes to with the promise that if it is not a good fit they will return him. I am being very honest about the barking and potty issue. also did I mention- he only likes some people- not everyone- strange he has never been abuse as I got him as a small puppy from a breeder. He is a very grumpy little guy. I do hope though when I find the right home he will turn into a happy dog. So I feel like if I could put 3 yrs into trying to train him- I can put a great deal of effort into finding him the right home. The perfect person: knows and loves yorkies, is okay with a full retraining mission, is okay with allot of barking, I think he might do better with a small pack, would promise to return him if it was not a good fit- please say some prayers for us. And thank you everyone. |

It's gonna be hard, no matter how it goes, and I truly wish you and your beloved doggie all the best. |
End of the story Dear all wonderful yorkie lovers. I have a wonderful end to my story. One person posted that they might adopt the little guy but he was to large to be a play mate to her smaller yorkie. Before I knew his "interview" was cancelled I took him up to my wonderful groomer (K-9 Kuts in GLO). The groomer told me there had been a lady in that had fallen in love with my little guy and she wanted to adopt him also. So when things fell through on my first try I contacted the lady the groomer had suggested. Thank you all my prayers have been answered. She loves him, has another small dog- different breed who my dog( or her dog :-) loves, he has the run of the house, he sleeps on the end of her son's bed. She has somehow got him to potty train, stop barking and loves him dearly. I have found my dog angel. And the most wonderful thing is she lets me call and will bring him over for visits once he acclimates. she lives within .5 miles. It is so wonderful I could cry. THANK YOU for all your help and support! Sincerely, Done I love dogs very much, but I think if you see a strange lady asking to pet your dogs It is me. Happily petless and asking to play with everyone elses dogs. Thank you again- last post |
I am so very happy for you. It's not easy to give up something you love. I hope your mind and heart can now be at rest. |

hi..im so sorry about your situation..i know exactly how you feel...i too have to make the very difficult dissision to rehome my two beautiful babies...ive had Louie for 8 yrs and Bella for 7...they are great little guys.. I have fallen upon very hard times and just can not afford to care for them the way that they deserve. I cant affort to take them to the vet and They never get outside because i am constantly working. They are very very attached to me and im so afraid if i rehome them that they will miss me so badly that they will die of broken hearts. I just want them to be happy and healthy and loved. I am in worcester massachusetts. If anyone has any ideas or know anyone that could give my babies the love that i give them I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank You, Tami p.s. good luck to you. |
