i feel as if this dog has been abused. i've never seen a dog act that way if it wasn't scared to death for some reason. i know sometimes it's just no training and bad behavior but i get a more abuse vibe from this one's actions.

I don't think it was the owners hand. Probably the owner was videoing it and made a friend pet her while she was sleeping. (And they thought that was funny) That made the dog mad cause it was a stranger. I dunno...lol I may be wrong.

She explains that it is her mother's dog and they have a "sibling rivalry". I think the owner needs to step in and teach both of her daughters how to deal with each other. I would not accept this kind of behavior from either of them!

Shocking. This owner may think this is cute but if she should ever have/need to rehome this dog, many, many people would not take it. Should she wind up in an Animal Shelter, they could very well list her as "unadoptable" and kill her, due to the biting. I tried and plead like for hours with my animal shelter to let me have a tiny terrier "biter" at my AC and they said "No, way", they were euthanizing her. Could not take the chance. I tried to get them to let me sign any kind of waiver - anything to save her life. No, she was considered as beyond help in their minds and said they would not risk the "public health", no matter how willing this "public" was to take her and help her.

Letting a dog bite is always bad for the dog and you can tell how bad the poor dog feels. You can see that in its little face and defensive body attitude. Dog's do NOT want to bite humans and only do it for all the wrong reasons and they do not like it. The dog looks so uncertain and uneasy after each bite! Horrible!!!

Oh wow, I didn't know that the Animal Shelter would be this strict, this is so sad. I know some of Cesar’s dogs are last resort before euthanasia, but I thought if it's a little dog, they’d be more lenient, it's not like they could kill a person. Thanks for this information.

I agree what she is doing is re-inforcing bad behaviour!. It is exceedingly difficult to retrain a dog that has reached this point. Much time and effort, supported by a trainer that knows what they are doing is going to be needed.

Unfortunately we don't know this dog's history, but I agree the likely cause was the fault of the owner. How-ever there are in each breed, an unfortunate few pups that somehow end up mis-wired from the start.

I own a timid/fear based dog, which I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of training dollars, to try to bring stability to her temperament. She is much better than she was at 7mths old when we got her, but I still don't trust her, and sadly I don't think I ever will. We go weeks, sometimes months without an incident, and then whamoo, she exhibits either dog aggressive behaviour, or people aggression. We have had her temperament tested by two different working dog experts, who reached similar conclusions, she is simply hard-wired this way. It is the main reason she will not be bred, and will be spayed.

Yes, I agree some are just hard wired this way, and you are so right, they should not be bred. I've actually seen this type behavior, quite a bit when a small dog is possessive of its owner. Cesar has done a few shows on this where the dog will bite/attack anyone who gets close to the owner.

You say your dog was 7 months old when you got her, are you sure that she was wired that way, or is it possible something trumatic happened to her? The first few months are so important. Of course it's always best to be cautious and never breed an aggressive, fear based dog, I doubt if they'd make good mothers anyway!

Oh, I feel so bad for this poor dog....obviously it has been teased and aggravated beyond reason! Just the slow movement of the owner's approaching hand....says it all :( Poor baby! Doesn't deseve this kind of life at all!

Boy, they were hardcore on this little dog. It looked like a Yorkie/Black Peke mix and it was maybe 6 - 7 lbs. Darling little dog, young, 3-5 years old, who went after every ankle that walked in her cage with unabashed relish! She was NOT crazy, as she reacted appropriately otherwise but just went ballistic when people approached her physically. She was totally redeemable to a home with no small children or other pets(this was while I was trying to find a shelter dog) and someone with a history of working with aggressive and sick dogs. But no way. Other than the shelter worker who was on my side and wanted to save the dog, all of the other staff of AC Officers, as I worked my way up the chain of command, were adamant that this dog was irretrievable and a danger. I even had them call their manager over the department that animal control is under - can't recall his title. No go.

This little dog was one that could have been salvaged and was terribly anxious and afraid and only being aggressive out of fear and self-defense. It was a terrible loss to me and I could not go back to that shelter but one other time. It was after that last visit that I called the breeder I had gotten Jilly from and found out about the kennel dogs she had been given to find homes for by a breeder with personal problems - one of which was Tibbe. Once I saw Tibbe, my hunt for a dog was over - but I still think about that little Yorkie mix who died for no reason at all when someone like me with a lot time, patience and love, could have totally turned her around. I would have probably never ever trusted her around children no matter how far I brought her back but that would not have to be an issue as I don't have a lot of interaction with children. So sad for a little dog to be a biter, as it can wind up getting them killed in certain circumstances.
