Our weather TURNED miserable recently with rain on top of snow, and everything turned to ice. Eddie wisely wimped out on walks, but Jillie and Rusty were hard-cores!

They're so cute! Even slipping and sliding. :)

Why doesn't Rusty get any boots or jackets? Does he not like them?

Yeah, he typically doesn't need them. He's a double-coated dog and doesn't mind the cold nearly as much as the Yorkies. Plus in icy conditions, he's better off with his claws exposed.

Duh! I forgot for a second that most dogs are double coated. Geez... I blame work for the brain fart. :p Or have I been in yorkie land too long?

Nah, no brain fart. Big, double-coated dogs can benefit from booties when they're either running for long periods or if the snow is crusty. They don't need them for warmth like Yorkies, but they benefit from the protection.

Our walks just aren't long enough typically to worry about his pads.

Ahh, I love watching Jillie. she's like a tougher yet more refined version of Uni. (She really does look like Uni tho! the coloring!) As always, love the music selection. My all time fave was "I'm the Boss!"

I am very jealous of Jillie's ability to run on the ice with such skill. I definitely would have fallen on my butt. Morgan won't even run on the icy snow.

I knew as soon as I saw the title Ice Road Yorkie it was going to be another great video from alaskayorkie! Jillie and Rusty are both adorable. I love how fast Jillie's little feet were moving. I need to get Louis a pair of boots, but I don't think he would keep them on.

Hahaha...that is so darned cute. I just love little Jillie....she was mov"in on. No fear, no fear....haha, cracks me up. If I set Zhoie down on ice, she would just stand there like are you kidding me. Jillie is such a pretty little thing. Rusty was sure having his share of fun too, hehe.

Thanks, everybody :) I actually regretted letting her run up that hill. She's got Grade 1 LP, so I probably should have kept her off of it.

is it safe for a yorkie to live in alaska? i would be afraid of eegles and foxes and other wildlife if i was in alaska i would think alaska is better for bigger dogs. not that im small im a big dog too

Ha, well, I don't think Yorkies would survive long if left on their own in Alaska, but the same is probably true anywhere. I've heard of coyotes running off with dogs in urban areas of California, and traffic is a problem just about everywhere. I think Yorkies are as safe as you make them. ;) And I watch mine like a hawk.

I love the way Jilly runs and stops and slides.. slides into first base.. she is sooo cute.. Rusty is a doll too.. Looks like they get along great. I love to watch your movies..always gives me a smile and makes my day!:p

Adorable. There were a couple times there where I'm pretty sure that Jillie wanted a small sled to pull, and would have been good at it!

OMG:laugh: Jillie is tough as nails! GO GIRL!!! Rusty is just adorable too, I wanna hug him:love: I just can't believe how much fun they appear to be having, especially little girl, BRRRR!!!! My two won't go outside if it's under 60:rolleyes: :laugh:

Jillie was a pro on the ice and snow. Your lab seem to be having a great time too:) Her little snow boots were adorable.

On dialup that vid is going to take awhile, but I have to watch! ^_^
Jenna did quite a bit of slipping around this week too. I didn't even think about what that might be doing to her kneecaps! :(
Mostly though, she is the faceplant queen. Even today, a truck was coming down the road, so I tried to pick her up and all the snow clinging to her belly made her slippery...so she just shot out of my grasp like a bar of soap and POUF!...up to her earlobes in a berm! :O I felt terrible, but needless to say, we went back inside to dry off!
When she's not going too fast to take the curve on the street and plows right into the powder it's maddening...jeez, she is a little rug rocket! >.<

Negative 20'sand 30's forecast for this week...good grief I hope she suddenly decides to use the pads!!

Cutest video! WE also have a Lab, but she's 11 and not too fond of the cold anymore, but looking forward to seeing how my little Shadow will like snow (or not).

Can't find good booties here in Jersey, can you tell me where you found yours? I would imagine they are more plentiful in Alaska.
