Holy cow! 4 months!! That's fantastic!! My little one is 4 months and now i'm thinking we got A LOT of work to do! Wowza!! that was great!

OMG, how in the world did you teach her how to do that?!? :eek: I love that trick (well hubby does) and everytime we try to teach them, all they do is give us a big smile and lick our fingers (basically saying, yea right mommy, like you would really shoot me) :rolleyes: Its totally hopeless for us. Your baby is so cute and smart!!!

How awesome is that. I spoiled my dogs and they don't do any tricks. I wish I had started young training them.

Your girl is so smart and cute, wanta trade for one of mine!;):p

Thanks for the kind words..

Wookie - I think because we taught her how to rollover first made the bang bang trick a lot easier to teach. Basically I would physically put her on her back and say 'bang bang' and put a treat in her mouth. I would do that over and over till she understood. I found doing the training in 10 minute interval works the best. And I only use a tiny piece of a treat just so she gets the taste in her mouth.

I loved the video!!!! So jealous! Here I thought my 4 month old Zoë was all tricked out (sit, down, paw, and high five) I was sooooooo wrong!

I'm still a bit afraid to do the Bang Bang trick, I grew up with guns being bad. We'll see.... My issues is Zoë doesn't seem to be able to do roll over on command. She rolls over all the time all on her own of her own free will while playing but the second I involved treats and try to encourage it she suddenly doesn't know what it is and won't even let me forcefully roll her over! She'll just put her weight down and won't let me turn her either way. Gah.... :rolleyes:

Try put the treat near her nose, and slowly moving it up around her head forcing her to rollover so she can see/smell it... then quickly put the treat in her mouth after she does it and give praise. Not sure if that will work, but its worth a shot :)

Haha! I tried the whole treat near her nose, to lead her to move. She's either super smart or super stupid, she'll get up from laying down and sit to try to get the treat! :rolleyes:

What a smart dog you have. That is so good for being that young and able to do all that. How funny when she feel on her own as shot. Oh well she wanted an extra treat...ha ha That was a very smart dog.

Pretty much since she was 12 weeks I've been working with her. I work on the necessities much more (ie. walking calmly on a leash, and making her understand I'm the pack leader).. But when we have some free time I like to have fun and teach her new tricks to keep her mind sharp!

Johnny can roll over so I'll try to stop him mid-roll to get the "Bang-Bang."
Have you got some tips for getting the pup to walk calmly and not pull in front?

Thats pretty much how I taught her 'bang bang'. When she was rolling over I would stop her on her back, say "bang bang" and put a treat in her mouth. At first she would just rollover, but she then realized she wouldn't get the treat unless she was on her back.

As for the walking, I've pretty much learned that from watching countless hours of the Dog Whisperer. A lot of the basics are never letting them out the door before you, walk straight with your chest out, and be calm. I used to get tense and Jackamo would have a terrible walk. Once I realized how to be calm and assertive, everything fell into place. If she starts to run or jump on me, I'll give her gentle tug on the leash as a correction and then immediately let the leash loose as a reward. Eventually she realized if she walked calmly and not in front of me, the leash would be relaxed. Also I have the luxury of being able to walk her 2-3 times a day, which really helps.

Ok, First of all, I think you and I have smart puppies! Beacause Fiona was doing the same thing at her age----well, not the whole playing dead thing, and My boyfriend was just standing over me with Fiona watching, and she was watching too!!!!

What a cutie!!! Can I send Baron to you?? He's almost 10 months old and doesn't do any tricks!! I've tried but, he doesn't ever get it. I've had him for 4 months now and he's still not totally housebroken!! Your little girl is a real sweetie and soo smart for 4 months old!! Yay, awesome job:thumbup:! Your baby is a cutie. My boyfriend is dying to teach our puppy that trick. He thinks it's hilarious. So far Chase knows how to sit, down, stay, speak, up, and shake. The shake took forever! I can only imagine how long it will take to teach roll over and play dead:).

Thank you for your video! It was an inspiration to us. I've been working with my hat-trick on sit/down/roll. They are doing great. I'm gonna add in something more now! (FYI: When I say "Belly rub" my two girl roll on their backs but my little boy won't). heehee

WOW THATS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! I wish Gracie could pick bang bang up... :( Im not sure how to get her to do it... I will work on it again tomorrow...
