Milli's Cupcake Time Does anyone else have a yorkie that does this? Milli has done this since we brought her home. When she is tired, she grabs her stuffed cupcake toy and takes it into her bed/blanket or on the couch to lay down, and she sucks on it. Her eyes kind of glaze over and her feet knead on either side. She gets so relaxed that her ears flop completely over and her body stretches out. It's like a security thing for her-but so funny and strange at the same time. |
Aww thats adorable!!!! Sam doesnt knead but he does do that when its nite nite time. Its the most adorable thing ever and Im glad to see this video! So cute!!! |
I've seen this habit continue on after puppyhood, but only in dogs who for one reason or another were taken from their mothers too soon. Yes, it's done for security reasons. ;) |

I almost think it's kind of like thumb sucking for children...she only does it at night, and only with one toy (we have duplicates of the same one). It's never been a problem, and she seems so happy with her cupcake that we just let her enjoy herself. Should I take the cupcakes away? |

First of all I think that Millie is adorable and beautiful coloring! I had read on here about other dogs sucking on a toy and wished I could see just what they mean...I'm sooo glad you posted this video, now I know. It's cute as can be! :) |
Awwww, I was just going to say that I think Milli is such a darling name, but what a cutie pie she is! She looks so sweet with her little cupcake. Madison does that with a lot of his soft toys; but I think (no, I KNOW) he's got issues and some that I have no idea about. He was abandoned out in the desert and was starving when I brought him home, so that was one. I figured it is probably just something he does to make himself feel better; he's been thru so much and maybe even came from a puppy mill! But it IS so cute, and makes me love him even more. You know where your baby came from and that she was well-bred, well-cared for and well-adjusted from birth, so it's just part of her cute little personality. It's so funny, at the end of the video, she's looking up like "hey, what're YOU looking at, huh???", hehe. So cute! |
Layla does this too, but with my pillows on my bed, or the cushions on the couch :) She's done it since she was a baby and she's now almost 3 years old. I got her when she was 10 weeks old. I love the little look on her face when she does it. And if I'm in bed with her, she scoots her butt over so she's cuddling right against me! |
My Little Fantasia do the same thing with her stuff pig and rabbit, she will just lay and suck the face and sometime it looks like she is sleep. |
Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories-it makes me feel more ok about it to know that there are other little weirdo-toy sucking-yorkies out there :) I think it's just a funny little habit, and the more I think about it-as long as I'm not having problems with training her, there aren't behavior issues, and she minds well, I'm not going to worry about it :) |
That is just too cute for words! Maddie brings toys and cuddles, but I don't think she sucks on them...maybe she does...I'll have to watch for it! |

1 Attachment(s) I was so glad to see a video of that! Betty does it, too! But she doesn't real suck on it, just holds it in her mouth (her froggy or her cow are the only toys she does that with). She does get that 'far-away' look in her eyes! And she gets annoyed at me if I watch her! :p Here is a pic of her doing that... |

I love the part where she stops and looks into the camera like "Do you mind? Im tryin to have some cupcake time here." So adorable. I would have a hard time not interrupting her and loving on her! |

my brother's Boston Terrier does this on his camel all the time! sometimes he even makes little crying noises - even though it's not crying noises, i dont know how else to explain it- we say he's singing to it - we've never seen any other dog do this so i'm glad he's not the only one! |

No, don't take it away! It's too cute. Hubby and I went shopping with Hot Rod a couple of days after we got him and hubby picked up a silly flat sherpa lamb. I thought was too big for him but hubby had picked so I went along. Hot Rod LUVS that lamb. He started laying on it and sucking the tail so I would put it in his crate with him. Then I would always make sure it was with him when we went out. It is his security blanket. Til this day, he's 13 mo, he still sucks on the tail as he goes nite nite on the sofa. It's so funny, he puts himself to sleep doing it. :p |

Awww how cute! I definitely wouldn't take her cupcake away. Jamie does this same thing with his "Lola". She a seafoam great stuffed dog. Sometimes he'll fall asleep doing it. |
