I'm a Good Citizen, by Eddie 2 Attachment(s) I, Eddie, would like everyone at YT to know that I am now a Canine Good Citizen. My dad saw an advertisement for a test at the local doggie school and decided he'd give it a shot even though I haven't been practicing. Dad always turns into "pageant dad" when these things come up. He panicked because "grooming" was one of the categories and I've been looking a little scruffy. So he got up after 4 hours' sleep and tossed me into the bathtub! Then he clipped my nails and pulled out the electric clippers! Believe me, he has no idea what he's doing with them. Dad was telling Mom that he was sure I was gonna fail because I get jumpy when loud noises surprise me, and that's one of the 10 skills I had to pass to get my card. But I decided to show everybody that I am now an adult and not afraid of nothing. Well, not much. ;) I passed all 10 skills, and the judges said I was one of the best dogs out there! Next stop, my Therapy Dog card. Whatever that is! Here's me with my certificate and a copy of my report card. I think it means I'm now a college graduate. |
Congratulations! Love the narrative!! |
Congratulations. Congratulations on your Canine Good Citizenship Certificate. Your Dad must be so proud. j:) :congrats: :bravo: :number1ri |
awwww congrates! I am proud of ya because those are our goals as well! Everyone needs the help of a good therapy dog now and then |
Awesome Eddie!!!! Awesome Eddie!!!......... so are you going to continue with the "Therapy Dog" program???? We have a family member staying in an assisted living home and they have therapy dogs come in on Saturdays......... absolutely love it!!! It really brightens some days of the people there..... it really is a great program. Also a friend of mine is starting with her 7 mo. shihtzu in the program.... of course she'll have to wait until the dog is 1 year before she can really do anything with it. (I guess the dog needs to be at least 1 year before getting certified) Again, Congrats Eddie!!! A great accomplishment. |
Thanks everybody! (This is Eddie's dad again.) I'm not sure what becoming a therapy dog entails, but I heard this was the first step. I'm going to check it out and see if he needs more training or what. I just see how happy people get when they see a Yorkie, and I think it would be cool to bring Eddie to a hospital every now and then to cheer people up. Does anyone else know what our next step is? |
Congratulations! Well done Eddie and well done Eddie's Dad :) :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |
Congratulations Eddie!!!!!  Eddie, there is no doubt in my mind that you are a good citizen :) :) I love your picture, tell your Daddy that he did great with the clippers and groom, cuz you are a handsome little guy!! You should be very proud (and your daddy too,) of your accomplishment!!! |

Wowzer - Good Job Eddie - you are the best:thumbup: Here are a few links that can tell you about theraphy dogs but you might have trouble getting tested in Alaska. Call your local hospital and see if they can give you any suggestions. http://www.tdi-dog.org/briefhistory.html http://www.cofc.edu/~huntc/service.html http://therapydogs.com/ http://www.deltasociety.org/home.htm |
