When can I bathe her??
 
I just picked up Preslee Monday. She is kinda stinky and I really want to give her a bath but I am not sure if I should. She is 9 weeks old. Do you think I can give her a bath??

in gentle grooming shampoo it should be ok just get her dry fast so the baby won't chill :p

I think it would be fine as well. I agree with Redneckwoman.. dry fast..
Sometimes we just have to... Dont want any stinky babies do we?

Lida Rose had a bath and she did just fine, the vet said it would be ok as long as she didn't get chilled, and I used a washcloth on her face. She was kinda stinky too but she smells good now! I used baby wash and a warm bowl of water. Going camera shopping tomorrow and will have pics! These little girls are so precious, Lida cries when I leave the room and covers me with puppy kisses when I come back.

I am curious about why the breeder didn't give her a bath right before you picked her up. Breeders I know do so that all the new parents have to do is get the immediate vet exam and ENJOY their new family member...
Remember to use low heat if you have to blow dry them, Their bums might burn..LOL

I start baths, nails and light combing at 6 weeks and do some type of hands on each week..then when they go to their new home they are clean and well groom, used to it and most are good for the new owner.

I had just gotten Cloey, but she's a maltese.. and i wasn't sure when i could bathe her.. but i did and she did just fine, plus it was very fast! (she was 10 weeks at the time)

I don't particularly remember what I did with Maggie, it being nearly 4 years ago, but Molly (who I got at the end of April) was a matted mess when I got her. It took me two days of combing (off and on because she was HATING it) to get the mats out so that I could bathe her. MacKenzie, who just joined us last Friday was a MESS when she arrived. She was flown in over the course of a full day (9 hours), and was soaked with what I can only assume was urine when I pulled her out of the crate. That said, she was also clearly not well when she arrived (turned out to be Coccidia), so the only think I used on her was baby wipes. She's doing MUCH better this week, and had her very first bath tonight...third in line for the weekly bath behind Maggie and Molly.

Like everyone says, do it quickly, and keep her warm...gentle blowing with the hair dryer on a coolish setting, and she'll be fine. Might as well get used to it now, as I really don't think Yorkies can go more than a week without a bath.

I Totally agree with this statement right here!!! :D Since the weather's been super hot to hot hot hot, to warm.. my babies get smelly LOL.. :eek: :p
