Our Molly Hello! We are new yorkie owners as of three days ago. Molly is 6 months old and 4 or 5 pounds - we need to get her weighed. For some reason, she reminds me of a ferret- long skinny body, wiggly and fast. http://img52.exs.cx/img52/5597/d3y124molly2.jpg We also have a 10 pound, 4 year old maltipoo named Tyler. They have become best buds and play constantly. Our 20 pound, 3 year old miniature poodle Toby just growls at her like cujo! I'm wondering about her ears. Is it too late to trim the hair so they will stand up? She's adorable as is if it is too late! Thank you. Val |
I think Molly's ears are very cute as they are! They are neither up or down really, just sweet! Gizzie Chavi at nearly 5 months is long and skinny too but then 10lb Gypsy Rose (17 months) was like this once!! Both their ears have been up from an early age and they have loads of hair on their never trimmed rather large ears!! Glad Molly has friends - our two play constantly!! Thank you for sharing the photo!! Ana xx |
Molly is soooo cute!!! Its funny you mentioned the ferret thing....my sister just said to me yesterday that my Dolce reminds her of a ferret. She is scrawny too. I think they will grow into themselves at some point. I'm not sure about Molly's ears if they could stand up now, but you never know....I'm sur the seasoned Yorkie owners on here would be better suited to answer your question. I think her ears are adorable though!!! Conratulations on your new baby....and welcome to yorkietalk!!! :D |
Molly looks so camera friendly! Great pose there. No, it's never too late to shave their ears to make them stand up. They just need to be shaved, and you can use tape if you would like to get them to stay up, and once they stay up on their own, the tape can go away. We had to do this with our little one, and after a week or so, his ears stayed up great by themselves. |
Oh I just LOVE those ears! Don't change 'em! Molly is adorable! Welcome to Yorkie Talk! |
Welcome to YorkieTalk!! Molly is precious, especially her ears!! We have a 5 month old boy Ranger who also has floppy ears. We keep his ears trimmed for the most part and when he goes to the groomer they get shaved at the tips, but so far they haven't stood. We don't mind though and prefer his floppy ears :D |
not to late!!! hello your molly look's like my febie and febie is built the same way as molly long and molly's face is so sweet they could be twin's ...febie's ear's are up but it took me a while to get them up...i would still shave them i think they will still stand up if you do.i am hoping to post a pic soon but frist i need to figure out how to post one . febie&mom |
Welcome to Yorkietalk. Molly is a cutie pie.................Cindy |
Welcome, Val, Molly, Tyler and Toby!! What a sweet girl your Molly is! The ears are sooo cute ... if you do want them to stand you can always get them trimmed and if you don't like it, the hair will grow back! The floppies are so cute, I think it's just a matter of choice ... "to trim or not to trim" ... believe me it will not affect your love for that baby at all!! :) Our Toto is 16 months ... 4 lbs. ... and our absolute joy!! Can't wait to hear all about your babies!! ;) |
Welcome they are right She is a cutiepie. |
Thanks for the welcome! Molly is such a joy and a terror! She has escaped twice and given me a heart attack both times. Now we don't even crack an outside door unless she is in her playpen. She learned "sit" in one day, but really needs to learn "stay" and "come". Anyone have great wisdom in teaching these commands quickly? She has the spirit of a great dane in such a tiny little body. Here she is playing with Tyler. http://img76.exs.cx/img76/4311/i9p126tylermollyplay.jpg http://img76.exs.cx/img76/329/n5f126tylermollyplay.jpg http://img76.exs.cx/img76/5083/c8g126tylermollyplay.jpg Val |
Val ... you have quite a handful! They are soooo cute ... what fun they must be! Molly will come to obey the "stay" command ... when she's good and ready! :) It's taken Toto a looong time! I do have to use a firmer voice than with other commands. Patience and repetition are the key! ;) |
1 Attachment(s) I think there is a good chance her ears will still stand up. Bentley (see picture below - before trimming his ears) had a lot of hair on his ears and I did not think they were going to stand up, but when I cut his hair at about 5 months his ear stood straight up afterward. |
call me crazy, but when i was LOOKING for my yorkie, one of the things that i sorta wanted was his ears down......lol...... i know its not the breed "standard" but i think they are soooooooooo darn cute when they are floppy (But more maintenance i hear as far as cleaning plucking ect...) |
Tyler and Molly look like they are having a great time together. Looks like my house with Maddie and Rudy playing , it really get wild when Lucky my 30 lb cow-mix gets going with them. Rudy is a runner when you open the door, nothing stops him when he get out in the front. Maddie's not, she will stay if I tell her and I can take her in the front and she stays by me. Each yorkie has such different personalities. Rudy has gotten out a couple of times and almost gave me a heart attack. Now when I open a door he is in my arms.................Cindy |
