SHAKING... very worried hi all, i was wondering if anyone can help or advise what does it mean when your yorkie all of a sudden starts shaking and panting? i just got a call from my mom saying that my baby is shaking and panting ... this happend once b4 and that was when i gave him raw carrot but we dont feed him that anymore. i took him to the emmergency vet clinic after an hour of no change and the vet didnt find anything wrong with him.... i told my mom to give him some nutracal she says that hes doing better but im just wondering can this be something serious? plz advise. |
They shake from getting excited or nervous and its not serious. They can also shake from low blood sugar so its good you gave the nutrical. I would just watch him to see if it continues. |

i was just talking to my sister and she was telling me that he was jumping alot and barking alot ... i think your rite he just got too excited ... i hope at least... gosh iget so nervous and scared whenever hes not feeling well.... :'( |
I know what you mean. If only they could talk. Well, they speak in their own way, but when you think something is wrong wouldn't it be nice if you could just ask them and they could tell you? :( |
My dog Keno has a brother named Gemini who shakes like that all the time, mostly when he is around other dogs. He is so hyper he could run and play 24/7. |
Make sure he's eating frequent meals just in case he does have low blood sugar, and always keep nutrical at hand. These little guys need to be eating small but frequent meals all day so that their blood sugar doesn't get low. |

My yorkie had low blood sugar problems when he was a pup and he would shake and he ended up having seizures. We began to free feed him (have food out at all times including at night) and we measured how much he was eating to make sure he was eating enough. Also, we gave nutrical sometimes if he acted like he needed it. Because of the frequent meals he didn't have enough time for his blood sugar to drop. He stopped shaking and he's not hypoglycemic anymore. We still free feed him now and make sure he's eating enough. Hope this helps :) |

I also feed my babies like you 7,1 and 7 (give or take an hour). Science diet says to feed them a certain amount. I do exactly what they say. Should I be feeding them more? I worry that they will get fat. If I had food out at all times, my oinkers would eat all day. |
I free feed my puppies 24/7.My vet says to feed them like that unless they get overweight. My breeder also told me to just leave food out for them. They don't look overweight to me and I feel if their hungry they'll eat. They won't eat if their full.At 6 months I will start putting them on a scedule. But for now I think just to leave food out so he can eat whenver he's hungry. They won't make themselves sick.I also feed mine science diet. |
:) Mine seems like he knows how much he's supposed to eat...Even though I free feed him, I measure how much he's eating, and he never eats more than he's supposed to. :) |
Shaking in the car My dog shakes and pants in the car. We have always taken him for short trips, errands, etc., since he was 8 weeks old. He is very socialized and has gone to ballgames, parties, walks yet when we get in the car he shakes and pants. It just gets very annoying on our longer car rides and we are about to take a 3 hour trip for Thanksgiving. Does anyone have any advice for me? Should I ask the vet for something to help him just nap during the trip? |
you really shouldnt take your yorkie in the car in the first few months. they get stressed very easy. i know its so hard to leave them at home. hehe.:) my baby does the same thing though, but it helps if he can look at the window. or lay a big blanket in the back seat, he will eventually calm down, and probably sleep! |
I googled my yorkie shaking and your post came up hope you don't mind. My baby fell yrsterday but besides the shakes he appears fine should I be worried? |
