Male Pee-Peeing Hi Guys Well I got my little fellow Sparky on Sat. he is squating to pee.Is this going to change to cocking the leg up ?I thought as he hits puberty this may change! :D |
When I first got Keno he would squat too. Then one day while walking him (around 3 months old) he cocked his little leg up and peed on the pole. He is now two years old, sometimes he squats sometimes he doesn't, I think it's what their in the mood to do. They have such a mind of their own. |
Congratulations! My Brutus is 5 months and still squats and I hope he never lifts his leg because he's trained to go inside. |
Congrats on your new baby! :) Ramsey still squats to pee and he is 13 weeks. |
Many dogs don't learn to lift their leg until they learn to "mark"... Everything I've read says if you neuter them before they start marking, they most likely will never lift their leg... or begin marking... which is good... if you like most of the furniture in your house. ;) |
Tucker squats, too. He's 8 weeks and I plan on getting him fixed as soon as possible because I don't want him to "go male"! :) My parents bred and raised border collies and our oldest, Spencer, raises his leg but he's still an intact male. One of our "puppies" (he's part of the youngest bunch but he's 4 years old!), Freckles, was fixed before he was 1 and he has never raised his leg. |
I brought him my little boy at 8 weeks, when i put him on the grass up went his leg and down went his ears, everytime the leg went up the ears went down untill he was 6 months old,he is not fixed,he will be a daddy and he has never raised his leg on anything in the house at all..he is 1 year old and I can say he is 100% potty broke |
Tino is a year old and he has never lifted his leg. Not even when we go outside for walks or to play! I am so happy bc he is trained to go on pads indoors! I wanted to get him neutered as soon as possible but I had to postpone his surgery bc I was waiting bc I wanted all of his baby teeth removed at the same time. I ended up haing his surgery when he was almost 8 months and he never went "male"! Whew! |
It depends. Most squat as a baby. He might start doing it when he's older and stronger. A lot of yorkies don't do it. But most do both. i guess it depends on what kind of mood they're in lol. |
wonder why some yorkies need to have baby teeth pulled and others don't,whats the differance anyone know? |
I don't know.... I just knew that Yorkies are notorious, as a breed for dental issues, so when I was having him checked out before his neuter, the vet said he still had several loose baby teeth and that we should postpone, so we did. |
Hefner, until recently, did a "combo position" squat and leg lift. This weekend Buddha taught hin to lift his leg and "pee like a man" so he does. Luckily he is small enough that it still hits the pad!! Just like people, yorkies are different in the progression of their dental growth. Some lose the baby teeth by actively chewing and working their teeth and others have a more difficult time losing them all and need a little help. Soem teeth are very stubborn! |
Zack is 3 months old and still squats to go pee. But the other day I was watching him in the yard and I saw him lift his back leg up a tiny bit. I think he's learning how to pee from my male beagle dog. I saw some kind of wrap thing at petsmart.com you put on your male dogs to keep them from lifting their leg. That just seems wrong to me. They looked like cute little sarongs for doggies. LOL |
I cant tell. Nemo just stays standing up, We are having a hard time housetraining him. His legs are so short, we cant tell if hes squatting or not. He just walks around and stops with a big grin on his face, and soon enough there's a wet spot on the carpet. |
I have a squater! Stomper squates and I love it. I also got him fixed at 4 months so hopefully he never lifts the leg. I've been "told" that many start doing it after a year all of the sudden. Not sure if that is true but I hope not. I must add...every once in awhile I notice Stomper lifting one leg about 1/2 inch high. Doesn't happen often, but does... |
