New puppies Hey guys I am new to YT and am looking for some advice. I have an 11 week old female who is 2.2lbs and am getting a male in two weeks who won't be over 3lbs full grown. Is there anything I should know before I pick him up?Sophie (my female) is crate trained but he has never slept any where but in a playpen. Would it be OK to put him in with her at night or should I put them in seperate beds? Any and all advice would be helpful. Thanks |
You are going to be busy! They are so young it probably will be fine but supervise them and go from there. Good luck on your new babies. |
hi and welcome to yorkie talk, sorry i cant help you with this one , i only have 1 baby, but someone else will be able to advise you,. good luck |
I had a male and female yorkie that were a week apart. They always slept together... in fact if they weren't together they cried. We got them at 10 weeks old... so that is about the same age as yours. My guess is they will want to be together. It may take a little adjusting, but you will love having two!! Mine are so close and I have never had to worrry about leaving them when I need to run out. :D But if you are getting a male and a female... be watchful in another couple of months they are sneaky when they want to "doggy pile". Mine even got to each other through a crate  |
I had my female for 3 weeks and just got a male this past weekend. I bought him his own crate just in case she didn't feel like sharing and needed to get away from him which is exactly what is happening. Once in a blue moon she will let him in with her:) |
Thanks guys. I am still a little nervous about how they will handle each other but I feel a little better. I talked to the breeder Friday and he had just gone in for his first shots. Lancelot is 9wks old and only weighs 14oz. That is hard to believe since my 11 wk old female was 2.2 on Friday. I am always up for advice since I am a beginner. |
