New Yorkie - Missy the one ear bandit!! Hi Everyone, I've just joined today, and just bought my first yorkie... Her birthday is on Nov 23rd/06 and is just approaching her 11 week bday... Her name is Missy and she's 3.4lbs. I love her to death... and she's too good to be true!!! Here are some pics of her and her floppy ear... which i'm reading if we tape up, we can strengthen the cartilage... my boyfriend really wants to do this, however she will be loved regardless... (in my personal opinion, it gives her character!! :D) Check her out!!! PS - any advice on the ear would be greatly appreciated... oh, and another thing, she's been sounding like she's gagging or having a gag reflex of some sort sometimes... maybe once or twice a day... i'm not so sure what this is... any help? http://mayamalixi.spaces.live.com/photos |
welcome to YT... and your baby is cute!!! i like the one ear look. |
Welcome to YT!! Your baby is adorable! |
welcome,, your baby is sooooooooo cute... glad you found this wonderful site. you will learn so much.. about her ears, my lexi's ears would flop one at a time also and drove me nuts. after she was spayed a few months later, they both stood up. about the gagging, if its the same thing that lexi does, its like a snorting, i just hold her nostrils so she breathes out of her mouth, she will usually stop right away, she does this when she get excited.. i also heard to pinch their nose, havent tried that one yet... |
Thank you everyone for your welcome here... I'm sure I will learn a lot!! Before Missy, I bought some land hermit crabs and joined a formum... geez was it ever helpful... taught me so much stuff... The ear thing, I'm ok with... we probably will just wait it out... but the gagging (which i'm not so sure it's like a snorting sound) is worrying me. It sounds like a dry heave... like she's about to puke but nothing comes out, and if she just finished drinking water and gags, then water will come out... slimy water... we're thinking she has something stuck in her throat (I've caught her a few times nibbling on a carpet mat... so we took that out) but everytime I go to open her mouth, there's nothing in there. Right now I'm searching the site for GAGGING, DRY HEAVES or anything similar. |
you know the frankster did that when he was first brought home and i also posted on here and alot of the other yters said theirs did it also. but frankies has quit for the longest now, but i think he was like so excited to be home or something cause he would only do it while drinking water but now hes fine. it took him maybe a couple weeks of doing it to stop. also welcome, your pup is too cute, i have a german shepard who has one ear up like the normal german shep and one ear down floppin around. they said when i got her is was because of her previous owner had broke or did something to her ear, and i felt sorry for her so i took her and she is to cute, with it and shes huge, with a mean bark and bite if she doesnt know you, and she only likes my husband she doesnt like other men, anyway this post was about missy sorry, shes to cute, welcome and enjoy here i loved it since the day i joined. |
if its worries you...try to induce vomitting just to make sure there isn't anything in her stomach like carpet mats... search on yt on how to induce vomitting. |

I also read a post that one yorkie named Mia had this problem too... sounded really similar to mine, same age/weight and she was brought to the vet by the breeder and the owner, and both vets said not to worry unless she's lethargic and not eatting... Missy is both very playful (especially when we want to go to sleep!! :p ) and eatting well... so i think i won't worry about the peroxide just yet... unless her personality changes and it looks really serious... Thanks everyone for all your help... this site is a blessing!!!! :ghug: |
Welcome to YT!!! Your baby is precious ;) |
