I got a new puppy today!
 

Well, I had been looking for a new female to complete my family. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get her. She is absolutely gorgeous! I haven't decided for sure on a name, but I'm thinking along the lines of Gia. Her ears aren't standing up yet, but the lady guaranteed me that they would or my money back.

She is 8 weeks old and weighs 1.12 lbs. I didn't want a tiny one anyway. I'll have to take picts and post them. I can't post them here because for whatever reason, my picts are too big. :confused:

I got her for $700 because she has a tiny hernia. I've seen this in dogs before and am not worried because I know it's fixable.

But the sad thing is, on my way out the door after seeing several yorkies in her house, she told me that she has 40 dogs. Yorkies, Chihuahuas, malteses and llasa apsos. So, my new baby came from a puppy mill. :(

She is a rowdy little thing, though and hops while she's chasing my son. I am planning on getting her vet checked on Monday. I'm pretty sure everything will be okay!

Gia is such a pretty girly name ...I'm sooo envious... I would love another - you are going to be so in love with her in the next few hours ! she sounds precious ...do you have any pictures yet ?

Gia is a super cute name!!! You'll have to resize your pics before you can post them with something like IrfanView. Do a search because I know there is a post on this and go from there. Can't wait to see your baby!!!

That was the whole reason that I named her that. The real Gia was an exceptional beauty! God rest her soul!

Gia is really cute. I would not worry that your breder was a puppymill. Just because she breeds more than one breed does not "automatically" make her a puppymill. A puppymill is a breeder that doesn't care for their dogs well, has dirty, unhealthy kennels, and only cares about the money and not the animals. They breed their females over and over and keep them in filthy conditions and they usually take the puppies away fromn their moms as soon as possible.

You can usually tell from talking to a breeder if she/he truly cares about the baby or not. Since this breeder informed you f the hernia and gave you a discounted price due to the "defect" I would give her points, so to speak. She didn't try to hide it from you. Did she come with a vet health guarantee? Were you able to talk to the vet? On of mine had a hernia too nd it corrected on it's own, didn't need surgery. My westie came to me after having had hernia surgery so it is pretty common.

Did you see the mother and father of hyour baby and the kennel facility? Did she "interview you" about the home you would provide. These are all factors to look at when you are looking for a reputable breeder.

Anyway, enjoy your new little one and we are looking forward to lots more pictures and stories.
