Eddie has always been a social butterfly, but I think he outdid himself on our recent vacation. My inlaws have three female chihuahuas who are absolutely manic. At one point, a fight broke out among the chihuahuas, and I picked up the one I thought was the troublemaker. The other two fought viciously. So I dropped the one I had and picked up another. Again, the two free chihuahuas fought. I grabbed the third one, and the same darned thing happened. The free chihuahuas fought.

But I was proud of Eddie, because he was above it all. He didn't fight. He ran. And none of those little dogs could catch him. He didn't get in a single fight, and by the time we left the other dogs seemed to look up to him.

Good job, Eddie!!! Yorkies are diplomats!! :p Toto is sooo impressed ... she says "Eddie is my hero"! :) Great pics, Mike. BTW ... Mr. Santa gave me a present early .... a new lens for my Canon! I love it but am still in the learning stage! ;)

" Good Boy, Eddie" :) Just had to tell a similar story. Two weekends ago, my sister and her husband who have a chihuahua named Timmy and my husband and I took Rudy to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware to spend the weekend at my sisters place down there. Everytime Rudy tried to get close to Timmy, Timmy would growl at Rudy.:( so Rudy finally gave up after a couple of times. Rudy did make friends with Bailey a Yorkiepoo who lives across the street from my sister.
So glad our Yorkies are friendly.:)

Oooh, what kind of lens did you get????? I've been real happy with my 70-300 zoom. Of course, now I want a longer one!

Thanks, everyone, for the comments! A couple of you asked about Jack. He is above such horseplay with hyper dogs. He stayed away from them, and they left him alone. A couple times he had to stand up for himself and fake an attack, but that seemed to do the trick.

Eddie sends his humblest apologies to his beloved Dixie and assures her that he was running FROM those mean chiahuahuas, not to.

But he says after seeing Dixie's eyes turn green, he's no longer afraid of moose. He's afraid of jealous girlfriends!

:p The Canon Image Stabilizer 100-400 ... I love it even though I haven't had much time to play with it yet. Can hardly wait to really try it out.

I love the shots of Eddie and Jack and find that Yorkies are much more animated with some distance between them and their humans! Also want some good shots of the deer and elk herds. We will see!! ;)

Yes, yes, try it out! I can't wait to see the pics. One tip: The longer the lens, the faster shutter speed you'll need for a clear picture. So shoot on the sports setting, or the shutter priority setting at 1/400 or faster. And since you promised to read the book, I know you know what shutter priority is! LOL.

Just practice and have fun!

:p Thanks, Mike!! Any tips will be appreciated .... I will need all the help I can get! My biggest problem right now is learning to use it without the tripod ... that sucker weighs a ton!! ;)

Good point. You might look into a monopod. Easier to haul around and it gives you better support than hand held.

I'm sure Dougal would say Dixie's scarier than any old moose! :eek:

I'm always amazed at the Fauna you've got at your local dog park! Do Eddie and Jack roll in Moose poo!? I know my two monsters would.
