Trying to make the best of a bad haircut 4 Attachment(s) Huck was kicked by horse while vacationing at my in-laws this past weekend. I posted a thread about the whole horrible ordeal in the Sick and Injured Emergencies forum. To make a long story short - his jaw was broken, but he'll be fine once it heals, and for now is limited to a liquid diet. That's not why I'm posting here though....after Huck had been treated and the vet was giving me some final instructions before sending us home, he pulled out a set of clippers, plugged them in, and started shaving Huck's face. He said that since Huck would be eating primarily liquid, soft foods, this would keep him cleaner. Now, you see, Huck doesn't have great hair to begin with and it grows so, so, so very slow, so even though I stood there nodding my head listening like everything was all good, inside I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" What took us 10 months to grow, was now gone in less than a minute. It looked pretty funny, kind of like a cross between a yorkie and a Chinese Crested. Anyway...what's done is done, so I'm trying to make the best of it. I cut his hair myself tonight - to try to even things out a bit. Here are some pictures, so let me know what you think. The first 2 pictures are of Huck before any of this happened, when his coat was looking really great, just so you kinda' get an idea of what he originally looked like. The other picture was taken tonight after I trimmed him up a bit, so that his shaved snout isn't quite so noticeable. Whatcha' think? |
AWWW!! I read about poor Huck, I'm so sorry you all had to go through that. Huck looks like he's doing well now. I can just imagine how you felt on the inside watching his hair being shaved off! He still looks absolutly ADORABLE! |
I think he looks great......hope he is feeling well soon. |

What a sweetheart. I am sure glad he is OK, and that is the main thing. I think you did a nice job trimming/evening his hair. He is a cutie. Kate |
Oh that poor baby. You did a great job trimming him up. I felt the same way when they have shaved Gizmo's legs when he has to have IV's. Doesn't matter, he is gonna be alright. Just try to keep him out of pain and give him gobs of love. You're a good mom.:) |
Bless that little man! He still looks super douper cute to me! Speedy recovery Huck xxxxxx |
Ahhh .... Huck is darling! You did a good job, Mom. The only thing I can see that you will have to work on is that sad look in his little eyes! :) Poor baby probably doesn't realize that he is a little miracle. I am so thankful that this wasn't worse and that he is recovering. Before you know it, he will be zipping around and acting/looking just like he did before. He is still beautiful to me! ;) Thanks for the update. |
Huck is a beautiful little miracle baby and I think you did a great job on his hair! I pray that he'll be back to normal before you know it!:) :) |
I think he looks great......hope he is feeling well soon. |
He looks beautiful. He's alive. His hair will grow back, as it does just keep blending it in with the longer hair. By the time it all comes in you'll be a yorkie groomer!!! He is so sweet. He's lucky to have you as his mommy.:animal-pa |
He is beautiful , I hope he'll get well soon . |
Poor little Huck. I hope he is feeling better. I think he is adorable, the cut is cute. |
Just knowing what he has been through I think he looks fantastic! You did a great job -- sort of a puppy cut -- makes him look younger. Here's hoping his recovery is swift and complete (hair included):) . |
I'm so thankful he is recovering. He is a little Miracle!!! You did a wonderful job cutting his hair and it will grow. |
ohhh poor little boy!!! I hope he recovers soon. The most important thing now is him getting better not really the looks. But still, he is a cutie and you did a good job with the trimming. Just don't worry about that now. |
