My puppys hair.. :wavey:Hi I just have a few Q's about my puppys hair.. Okay,He's starting to shed, I've noticed alot of hairs on his blanket lately. When will this stop? Also, The hair on his head is very thin, Is this normal? I'm scared to even mess with it because i'm afraid it will all come out!  Oh, one last Q, Hes only 10 weeks old and he has some gray roots is that normal for a yorkie at such a young age? Sorry, You could probably see I'm really clueless here  |
I got Pip when he was over a year old so don't know much about having a yorkie puppy but one of the reasons I wanted a yorkie when looking at different breeds was because they don't moult or lose their hair. If Pip's hair was falling out I would take him to a vet but I might be wrong. :aimeeyork |
Ive never known a yorkie to shed thats really strange, u could try brushing out the dead hairs, the grey roots on his head are very normal and ive heard the grey can make them "look"bald or the hair may look thin, ive never had this problem myself, but have heard of it. i brush both my girls everyday sometimes twice and ive never seen any lose hairs on their blankets, here we get sheepfat for dogs, it helps a lot with the coat, it comes in little like bon bon blocks with added seaweed... all my dogs have a shiny coat! Maybe ur baby needs vitamin B. |
The white roots are normal. As for the hair falling out, Esme doesn't shed large clumps of hair, but there is hair on her bed and pillows. I brush her every night and afterwards, her brush is full of hair. I think it's pretty normal. If he is shedding excessively, then take him to the vet. |

First, light roots on head are totally normal. I ALWAYS tell people who get my puppies that they will see the top of the baby's head start to look like an old man growing out grecian formula. If you are too young to know what that looks like, ask and old fart like me.. Comb the head hair-you will not damage it. Then, yes, Yorkie puppies do indeed shed the soft puppy hair. Start combing your baby's coat to the skin every day so he will not get mats. No big deal-the shedding will stop when the baby hair is all gone...Lordy, we do worry about doing irreparable damage to these babies. They are dogs and are not so easily damaged....as opposed to our kids who are being taight to blame their moms for everything.. |
