okay i need help w/ remmie! Remmie is one that likes nasty thing trash and poopy diapers, well earlier this week i went to get him from the trash and jerk him away and he snapped at me so i jerked him up, hes about 12lbs not a very fragile and he wrapped his front paws around mt wrist and dug in his claws, now that mark still hurts and is raw and about 3 inches long, tonight i caught him doing the same thing and eating old food and i instantly did the same thing and again he dug claws in me i threw him in the crate but my wrist hurts so bad right now. its ppuffy and red i put peroixde on it, bt i dont know what to do w/ remmie he has gotten so bad w/ his attitude..after i cleaned my self up i decided he really needed his nails clipped, well darn it i cut one way to short and i felt so bad about it he let me finish but i know he is upset, i put him back in the crate and i feel real bad about hurting him so i hugged him and hugged him and i guess i should have waited on the nail trimming i just instantly thought nails got to go but i should have waited, remmie doesnt seem to care at all when he hurts me this is the second time this week. that hurts my feelings too! |
You're right- Why not set him up for failure? There's more to it than this, but this will give you a good start. Put his leash on him-even if he's wearing a harness-and tempt him w/ the nasty things he likes. If he won't go after the food while you're standing there, then while you're home one day just let him drag the leash around until eventually he does get into the "good stuff". When he does and you go in to correct him in your usual fashion, pick up your leash first and tell him "No" (or however you were handling it) and if he rears up on you like he has been, give him a snap/release up towards you and tell him No again. It may take more than one snap, it may only take one since he's not used to you actually correcting him. But I agree that you really should stop this, it may branch out into other issues within your relationship if you don't. You're always welcome to PM me or e-mail me. ~Leslie Wooldridge topsredhead@yahoo.com |

Doesn't need to be a real reason. ;) Yorkies are curious by nature and one day he probably just took it upon himself to investigate! |
