Hershey ears One of Hershey ears will not stand. Is there anything I can do to make them stand. Thanks |

How old is he? Sometimes teething makes them flop. Also, I heard from my breeder to tape them up for support, and from others to massage them and keep them shaved. Emma has one up and one down-and I like her that way! The one went up FINALLY after most of her teeth were lost and we had her ears shaved. There are lots of yorkies on here with "down" ears-they come both ways! |

Yes. Have the hair trimmed on them first. Then tape them into the up postion. Lucinda's were taped for two days and that worked perfectly. Use the FAQ on this site or Google Yorkie ears. There are many sites with instructions. It is easy and painless. |

I only has to tape Sophie's for two days and then I keep the top 1/3 shaved. When I got her they were totally floppy, I did not think they would stand, but I am so happy I decided to tape. People thought she had a bow in her fur because I just had them taped together at the top. LOL Collette |

As you can see from my Avatar, Gracie still has one ear down. She is 4 months old and I don't believe she has started teething yet. The vet said that she would not recommend taping, too much of a pain for both Gracie and I! She said there is still time that the one ear might come up. For now, I am shaving and massaging, but the more I look at her, the more I like her "signature". I won't be taping. |

You can try this! Bengi had his ears down when I got him. I did some research so I trimmed the hair in the ears and taped them following the steps in this webpage: http://members.cox.net/jrogan/ears.html I left them taped for 3 days and it worked! When I would see that one of them started to go down I would taped it for 1 day. They were both up for about 2 months. Then, at about 4 months old, one ear when down because he is teething. I waited like 2 weeks but didn't come up. People say it's normal, but I was impacient, so I trimmed the hair and tape it for 24 hours. It worked! It's been like a week now, and both are still up. I found out it is really important to keep the hair trimmed for the first year. Specially for the puppies that had them down for their first 3 months of age, or they went down when teething. |
