Grooming tips with pics... LOL Hi everyone, I haven't been posting much lately. I have a lot going on here. Some of you know me but man there are a lot of new names here. So for those that don't know me, my name is Tricia, and I have 3 girls (yorkies) Alexis aka Lexi, Victoria aka Tori, and Candice aka Candi. Today I met a woman in Petco that is new to showing. She had a precious little male yorkie with her (he had a beautiful coat) and has 3 more pups at home. She was showing me pics and her kids and they are beautiful. I then started talking about Lexi's allergies and coat. She asked if they wear clothes often (of course the girls were in cute little dresses) I told her all the time. She then told me that not only will they not grow a full coat wearing clothes so often (which I know) but that it could cause Lexi's allergies to get worse and that could be the reason her shots don't always help. (don't I feel bad. She also told me she almost always tries to let her kids air dry. She did tell me lots of stuff about wrapping and etc. but she also told me not to put a pony or top knot in everyday. She said she very seldom puts her dogs hair up. Anyway, my point is I am going to TRY very hard not to put clothes on my girls for the next 2 months. If it helps Lexi's allergies it's worth it, but if any of their coats start growing then woo hoo it's a bonus.. So here are pics of my silly girls air drying and looking rather rough. If you all made it this far I'm going to have to do another thread of my girls prettied up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...iTori194-1.jpg Lexi http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori210.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori208.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori192.jpg Tori http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori193.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori201.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...rls/booboo.jpg Candi http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori198.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori200.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...exiTori204.jpg |
All your girls look ever so adorable.:animal36 |
Thank you, it is weird to see pics of the a mess. LOL |
gorgeous!!! |
Your girls are always pretty... |
I love seeing pics of your adorable girls! How long does it take for them to air dry? I've thought of trying that with Maddie, but she starts to shiver and I think I've got to get her dry. Your experiment will be very interesting! Keep us updated and keep posting pics! I hope Lexi's allergies improve!!! |

Adorable babies!! They all look a little bewildered, but Tori just looks ticked off about the whole situation! ;) As far as allergies go...I'm thinking of all the things I deal with for my kids & maybe it's the same concept for our dogs: detergeant, fabric softner, beauty products, bedding, stuffed animals, household cleaning supplies, even air freshner...absolutely anything they can touch or breathe can be a factor. |
Thanks everyone, they are so funny. Connie, they were all dry in about 20 minutes. It seems they dried them faster than I could with the hair drier. I was worried about the shivering with Candi, but after like a minute she was running around like a nut and seemed fine... Quote:
She is now on a duck and potatoe and/or fish and sweet potaoe diet. I also make her steamed greenbeans. We have removed all the carpeting in the house, I wash all bedding, towels, and their clothes in dreft baby detergant (hypoallergetic), she gets very little outside play time. The poor baby also gets a weekly shot, actually she gets to start every other week again after todays shot. PS The skin test cost me $906.00 each. |
What does she do with her allergies??? I usually alway dry Maddie with the Blow Dryer too, but this week I was presses for time and didnt do it. Her coat turned out alot better. Wasnt as fluffy, looked more smooth. I liked the air drying better myself. Your babies are just adorable!!!! |
I always AIR DRY the girls. I do this because MY OWN hair breaks less and lies silkier with air drying so I figured the girls would to... AND IT DOES. PLUS the hair shines way more if it air dries:thumbup:  Mine and the dogs:p |
Thank you for the post!! I may try air drying for mine. I, like the others saw the shivering and couldn't stand the thought that my babies might be cold. I'm planning on giving them the "works" today (I do every other week) so I'll see how the air drying works. I do put them in a top knot everyday. I'd like to try not doing that, but their hair falls over their face. Izzie is especially bad because she has a cowlick right in the middle of her head, half goes straight back the other half right over her face. |
Your girls are beatiful! I've thought about air drying but I quickly change my mind when they start shivering. Maybe I'll have to give it another try. |
ADORABLE!! They look squeaky clean and cute!! :D |

I'll try to get pics of her legs later this afternoon... |
Thanks everyone for all the nice comments. I think they are beautiful, but I'm a wee bit bias... |
What beautiful, shiny fur they all have!!! |
