Pic of your Yorkie ears.... :thumbs up Hi everyone........:wavey: ...Bailey has to go for his second trip to a groomer next week before we go away for holidays.....His first trip was a nightmare, he won't even let me touch his nails now......and they practically shaved his whole head, and nothing else, ugh!.....anywho....What I am looking for is any pictures of a babe with shaved floppy ears. Baileys ears right now are not up, they go up and down, he is almost 7 months and still teethin, believe it or not!...he is now getting his top canines....I am thinking of shaving his ears but am not sure what it will look like..............anyone??.....Please.... |
2 Attachment(s) I have one - I do both my own girls ears and grooming - My girls ears stand but maybe this picture will help ? I got a little carried away one day and trimmed too much and am letting the ear hair grow back - so I drew a PINK ARROW on the LEFT SIDE which was my mistake - (That is the hair growing BACK) and the RIGHT side PINK LINE is where I SHOULD have cut ...I like them to have only TOP 1/3 of the ear shaved down - like they show on the sites with GORGEOUS showdogs lol so you can get a basic idea ......Oh - and I Use a Wahl trimmer like in the picture - you CAN do this yourself. |
i shaved my babys ears when i got her before she was that old a groomer did it a few times for me though here's some pics when they were on their way up. http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6...13049oj.th.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6...13677ul.th.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8...13877am.th.jpg |

Thank You... Thanks a bunch for the pics and the tips.....I have those trimmers , just picked them up last week, hoping I will be able to keep the trimming up while we are away, as I am not sure if I will be able to find a groomer in the one horse town I grew up in......Thanks again....:thumbs up |

and lilannie ...I live in Houston and have tried 5 groomers - I STILL haven't found one I really like so I do them myself |
How do you get them used to the sound of the trimmer? I have one, but can't get near Oscar with it without him making a big fuss. I've tried letting him get used to it while it's turned off... then while it's turned on and not near him... He's fine with the hairdryer which is louder, but the trimmer just freaks him out! Should I just keep trying? |
I was just wandering the same thing. Mine go nuts when I try and turn on the clippers. I can't even get near them, if I did, they'd look like skunks with all the jumping and wiggleing trying to get away from the buzzzzzzzz. How do everyones elses do with that sound???//:eek: |
What I did when they were little was TURN the trimmers on - NO SHAVING - and just let them check them out - touch them with their noses - and hear the noise. Of course - don't let them touch the metal part - just the handle I would just hold the trimmer next to them to get them used to the sound - do this often and just don't try anything until they are used to it - THEN - only do A LITTLE AT A TIME - if you get ONE ear done and they start squirming - wait a few minutes - PRAISE THEM - give them a treat - then try for the other ear - :p it really works. Janice...You could bring the trimmer in when you have the hairdryer on and just let him hear THAT noise too...the more they hear it - the less they'll FEAR it. (lol...I'm a poet and dont know it) :D :D One day - they'll just sit pretty for you and won't mind the trimmers at all. |
