Yep, he is quite fluffy these days. He's scheduled for a 1/4-inch shave on Saturday to prepare for the 100 degree Vegas weather.

Plus, he's turning into a little porker. He weighed 9.2 pounds at the vet yesterday. He was 8.6 in April. Amazingly, the vet says he is NOT fat. He felt his ribs and said they felt fine. He says he has great muscle tone in his legs and back. And, then, almost as an afterthought, he said: "Well, if anything, he could lose about a half pound."

I gotta figure out how to get him back down to 8.6. It's been difficult with 3 dogs running around the house (we've got Sophia permanently while her mom recovers from a broken leg). We don't crate them and they refuse to use individual bowls.

I don't think I know any other pup that gets the exercise Eddie gets! Is he getting high calorie treats? You may want to look at carrots or something low cal for treating.

I have to feed my girls in separate rooms and only twice a day. If I free feed, Dreama would weigh 20 pounds!! She is a mega chow hound. I don't know how you feed, but sometimes free feeding can plump a pup, depending on their eating habits.

Eddie's not fat though... we have had the "waistline" talk before, I think! Don't fret, just keep an eye on him. I think as long as he is running around as much as he does, he will be just fine, Mike!

Those pics are great! I agree with Glad, he is looking a bit fluffy! Kind of like Oscar did yesterday...but we took care of that! He is nekkie now!!! I just love Eddie's expressions...such an expressive pup!

Thanks, Glad, you've been helpful with Eddie's weight issue in the past. Maybe that's the secret: Low-cal treats. I have no idea how many calories are in the stuff I give him (Yummy Chummies, made in Alaska), but he and every other dog I've ever given them to love them.

I also free feed. I tried having separate dishes, but with three dogs and no crates, it got to be a headache. All of them just pick at their food, though. Probably because I give them so many treats.

The good news is, I switched to a toy for a reward in Jumper class tonight, and his speed doubled. Maybe I can cut back on treats.

Evil Wee knows muscle weighs more than fat and that's why Eddie's her big chunk o' hunky boy dog. You take the best pics! I love the first one. And in the last one Eddie looks like he's been out on the tiles on a tequila bender!

Dougal gets more hyped when we have a toy so I use a combination of toy and clicking - cos sometimes Dougal gets a little toy fixated and crashes around blindly and I can hear his thoughts "gotta get that toy - gonna get it - want the toy - mama give me the toy already!"

I love seeing the pictures of sunny Alaska - they make me feel warmer. it hailed here this morning :( Although we don't get snow or nothing like that during winter it's still pretty miserable! Thanks for posting a little sunshine Mike!

Thank you, Evil Wee, for being so sensitive to Eddie's half-pound of extra lovin'. It's funny to hear someone say "sunny Alaska" is cheering them up. We don't get that very often. In fact, it's pouring right now! At least it's not hail.

Oh, man, Eddie was a riot with the toy in jumper class. His speed practically doubled as he raced around the course, but when I threw it at the end, he grabbed the toy and did a beeline back to the tunnel. I chased him because his turn on the course was over, but he just ran to the other side of the tunnel. The whole class was laughing (with him, not at him!). He is one funny boy. I had to lure him out of the tunnel with a treat.

If that was me Dougal would have dropped the toy in the middle of the tunnel to get the treat! and I would have had to crawl in to retrieve it! :eek:

The weather's crazy here. One minute hail, 130kmh gales, next minute sunshine then lightning and thunder!

I bet Eddie was super chuffed with himself to earn the toy and he wanted to do a victory lap! :D
