I just moved to Tucson from Maine, and I don't have a job lined up here yet. I realize it is likely that Edie will no longer be able to come to work with me. That's OK. She got 5 years of workplace experience, and she will have her grammy to hang out with here during the day.
In Portland, Maine, where I came from, dogs in the workplace are pretty routine. My sister (who lives in the D.C. area) was downtown one morning and couldn't believe all the dogs accompanying their owners to work. In our small office building, we had a golden, a lab, a poodle, and occasionally a husky and a couple of Australian shepherds in addition to my Edie. It was funny and sweet to see people taking breaks to walk, pet and talk to their dogs. It is a real stress reliever. A coffee shop below my office allowed dogs inside. I know it was against the health code, but they have never been busted. In fact, they serve "doggie biscotti" (Milk Bones) to their regular customers..... |
