Meet Darryl Dixon 1 Attachment(s) I'm new to the Yorkie world having obtained a darling Yorkie-poo pup about 3 1/2 weeks ago. Are Yorkie mixes welcome here? He's SO smart, cute, and lovable. His baby teeth are AMAZINGLY sharp, and he loves to use them. I'm constantly working on that. He's just 12 weeks old. He's learned how to sit and will look me in the eye when requested. He has me pretty well potty trained...I know his schedule and take him outside when it's time. He ALWAYS goes when he's out, and he rarely has an accident in the house. I have a pen set up in our living room and force him to take a little self-soothing time when I'm doing spurts of housework. He hated it at first, but now he's adjusting to it and can entertain himself quite well for periods of time. Somebody told me Yorkies can turn color as they grow up. Since Darryl is now black and tan with a bit of white. Is it true, he might turn out white or is he more likely to stay black and tan, but the positions of the colors and the size of the patches of colors might change. Attachment 412418 |
Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby. Yes yorkie mixes and all dogs are welcomed. |
Welcome to YT...Darryl is adorable! My first exposure to the yorkie personality was a yorkie-poo named Elmo, and he was a smart, sweet, mischievous little fellow. Congratulations on your new little one! |
Welcome he is a handsome guy He may turn a lighter color most yorkie puppies are black and tan Some stay darker and some turn lighter |
OMG I love the name! He is adorable! I miss Jackson being a puppy. He's 9 now but still requires a lot of attention LOL... Darryl Dixon is adorable. |
1 Attachment(s) So, my cockapoo, Lola, looked similar to your pup and she changed sooo much. |

Welcome to you and little Darryl Dixon! He's certainly welcome, as are you, and just adorable. Likely he will get much lighter as he ages beyond the first year. In the summertime, Tibbe gets very blonde tipped and with his clear tan head and face that once were quite blackish, he barely resembles the 9 mos. old dark little character I brought home. Sounds like he's a quick learner and the more training you can give him, the better bond you two will have as your work together as a team to achieve his goals. Tibbe adores having a job, learning his P's and Q's of obedience and other training - of course for a treat reward, which is mostly just a piece of his kibble kept in a Milk Bones box! Now he gets the occas. mini Milk Bone and works hard to get one of those. Dogs look at treats as trophies or big paychecks if lots of smiles and true praise goes with them. Now he just pokes out his little chest and preens when I tell him how smart he is! I think now he works just as hard to please me and get his praise as for the treats. Poodles are very smart and Yorkies love staying busy with various jobs, including home security, so a combo of the two should be a very fun little companion who will likely keep you on your toes and always enthralled. Enjoy and share stories of Darryl as you can. |
3 Attachment(s) Here's pix of Tibbe, the first one the left in the cage when he first got here and the second one when he was five, the third taken after I'd had him about six months. His face and head were already quite clear tan already. |
Congratulations .. Quote:
