Is my Toby silky terrier? I had my Toby as a gift from my daughter with all papers and AKC as Yorkie. But looking at him I wonder if he might be a silky terrier. His coat is bluish gold and super soft. He is now 6 months and about 5 lbs. It's not I am complaining. He is adorable pup and I fell in love with him from first moments. I am just curious. Here are some photos of Toby http://www.flickr.com/photos/9785615...posted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/978561...posted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/978561...posted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/978561...posted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/978561...posted-public/ |
4 Attachment(s) Really cool pictures! He looks like a Yorkie to me, to be honest. But it often is hard to tell. The thing is... you get a lot of bad breeding going on and sometimes a Yorkie isn't bred to "standard" but it doesn't mean they're not a Yorkie. I often think my Jackson is a Silky Terrier. But I have no papers on him whatsoever. I got him from a backyard breeder in Baltimore City. For all we know, she did not know if her own dog was a Silky or a Yorkie. Often times, not-so-great breeders will use a Silky female since they're often bigger and can produce more puppies etc etc. My Jackson is a BIG boy-- he's 18/19lbs. He's longer than he is tall, he has bigger ears, a longer snout, and the "eyeliner" look around the eyes that are all typical of Silky's. From what I've seen in Silky groups I'm in etc, he could very well be a Silky. Size alone doesn't determine that for me but the many other things. A well-bred Silky and a well-bred Yorkie are actually easy to tell apart. And it's not always bad breeding either... sometimes a Yorkie just isn't standard according to "show" but they make a great pet. I attached a few pics of my boy. one as a young pup. |
I think that is some irregular breeding. I don't care after all. Toby is wonderful. It all comes to the same problem. Stop puppy mills. But puppies from puppy mills cannot be responsible for human greed. We love them the way they are. Thank you for the reply. Jackson is beautiful! |
Toby is def a very cute Yorkie! Awesome pics...esp love the 1st one where the leaf is falling & he's looking @ it. :luvu: |
Thank you for your kind words. I volunteer at the local shelter to photograph dogs. Toby stole my heart. I didn't think I will fall in love after my Nunu died. But I'm in love again. Miracle of Yorkie. |
