Mating My baby yorkie is 7 months ... When will she want to start to go in heat since I have a male 4 month old husky ... I want to separate the to prevent any accidental pregnancy and her possibly dying from it. She's 4 lbs will she keep growing? |

Our Bella was about that weight at that age, and she gained three more pounds over the next couple of years, so yes, she could still keep growing, but most of her growth is behind her. |
My Casie was about 4lbs when she was 7 months and that's exactly when I took her to get spayed. I was worried because she was so small..but everything worked out. They removed all her retained baby teeth and she was a very good girl during recovery. Best thing to do is get her spayed before the first heat for preventing pregnancies and for the simplest spay surgery. It has the least amount of risks. My vet told me that after the first heat, their blood vessels enlarge and then the surgery sometimes takes longer to complete. |
As the above have stated, at 7 months she can go into heat at any time. NOW is the time to have her spayed, at 7 months they almost finished growing, that is not to say she "will not gain weight" anything is possible, it all depends on the genetics of both parents. Spay now before first heat. |
