Tinker (Tink) 1 Attachment(s) Attachment 408745 This is Tinker the first night we adopted her. She is 6 months old now and 2.8 pounds. |
Congrats and welcome! Think is such a beautiful little doll!! |
Thank you. We have had her for about a month and she is so skinny. Just bones, do you think this is normal for a six month Yorkie? I have had two Yorkies in the past from, one from 8 weeks and one from birth. I just don't remember them ever being this bony. Tinker is eating great so I have trying to give her extra bits here and there. I have two Malteses that don't need extra so have been trying to it without there knowledge. |
Assuming there is no physical issues, she could just be skinny. Im sure there are others that can provide some tips. I had a cat that was skinny....nothing was wrong with her....healthy as can be but no matter what I fed her, no matter what the vet told me to try, she never managed to get past 9lbs. She was a petite little thing and she lived a long and healthly life. She eventually passed away at the age of 15 from kidney failure....RIP Zoey By the way.....Tinker is adorable.:p |
Thank you and so sorry about your cat! We adopted Tink between Christmas and New Years and did have her vet checked and some shots. He found her healthy and sound. I think I just worry because she is so tiny at this time. I will be glad when she gets a little bigger! |
Oops double post but I don't how to delete so I just type this totally useless message. |
I would keep her weight watched, if she starts loosing any I would get her seen immediately. I free feed their kibble, I am scared they will get hungry and I can't stand that thought. But there are plenty on here that have scheduled feelings and they thrive as well. With her age and since she is small I would defiantly offer her food often if you are not free feeding :) |
Hi fellow Tink! ❤️❤️❤️ |
Thanks Cindy, I can't do free feeding as I work full time and one of my Maltese's is too heavy. But I will try and give her extra here and there. In a few weeks I am going to take her back to my vet and weigh her to make sure she gaining and not losing. When they are young they never stop moving and you can see how they burn off all those calories! Hi Fellow Tink! Isn't that funny, I have never met a dog named Tinker or Tink. We put down a Maltese and Yorkie in October and the Yorkie was one of the loves of my life, even at 14 he followed me everywhere. His name was Tucker and when we named our new little girl I hadn't realized till later how similar the name was. But I do think the name Tink is just adorable! I am still trying to balance bonding with the new puppy but giving my two Malteses extra attention so they don't become sulky. The puppy doesn't understand space and tends to get up in their faces. But slowly there are accepting her! |
What a cutie! I would just monitor her weight and make sure she doesn't lose. She should be gaining until probably 2 years. My two filled out and their weights haven't changed much (excluding times they got into something or illness) in ~5-6 years. |
