Sticky Balls 2 Attachment(s) Okay, I don't know how you call them... but I took Trixie out for a walk the other day and she wandered off the path. She ran into the bushes and came out with these little sticky balls ALL OVER her coat. I mean, they were EVERYWHERE. The worst spots were in front of her ears, she had a big clump. And they were really close to her skin above her eyes. I did contemplate cutting them out, but I ended up combing them out. It took me two full hours, lots of CC Ice on Ice spray and LOTS of patience. Here are some before and during pictures. |
Ok I have a dirty mind. And for the reason in my mind that I clicked on this tread, I apologize. AHEM, as for what you REALLY meant, bless her little heart! That pic of her is just heartbreaking, aww! I don't know what you guys have up there in Wisconsin but Sully gets sand spurs (sand burrs, whatever they are) stuck in his fur like mad sometimes when we go to the beach. Sometimes I have to carry him on the beach path and then put him down once we're ON the beach to avoid the mess! Poor guy! He gets them stuck in his paws and everything. Well, he did really bad only once! Mommy will be careful that it doesn't happen like that ever again to her baby, hehe! |
Ok I admit it, I was a little scared of this thread too! LOl I don't know what those thigs are either, but have picked them off before, NOT FUN, but it is usually off of my cat. I don't even know what kind of bush or weed they come off of ? |
We have something similar here and it's called "begger lice" (I think). Gage wandered off into the woods surrounding our house a couple months ago and came back covered with them. Took me about half an hour to brush them out (his hair is really thin due to stress he endured before I rescued him). Learned my lesson - gate stays closed now so he only has the back yard to play in. Reason he wandered into the woods? He thought he was a big, bad deer hunter....he was chasing a deer in the woods (5 pounds going after 120 pounds)!! |
"Ok I have a dirty mind. And for the reason in my mind that I clicked on this tread, I apologize." :D I honestly did not know the name for these things and I was worried about the name :D |
I have always called them hitch hikers and yes they are a pain in the bum to get out but she is ok right. |
I had a dirty mind also & that's why I clicked on this one!! hehe lol We also call them hitchhikers here. I think they're burrs. |
Haha I was confused about this thread when I saw the title!! Anyways, my dogs get into those sometimes too. They like to explore under the pine trees in our backyard and they sniff around everywhere and get those "sticky balls" all over their face! It takes forever to pick them off :( |
We call those "stick tights". Reuger has them all the time!! They\'re a pain to get out especially when there\'s a lot of them. What we call "beggar\'s lice" is flat and kinda\' triangular shaped. They\'re not quite as hard to get out. The ones that I REALLY hate  are cockleburs. They\'re alot bigger and so very pokey. Reuger always gets them right next to his mouth. Ouch!!!! We have all of these around our house and Reuger comes in quite often with at least one of these stuck to him. We know to just sit down and start working! |
Gotta love this thread title! :D |
Sticker burs or sand burs and SHAME ON EVERYONE THAT HAD THEIR MINDs IN THE GUTTER!!!!! :D :D :D You sure do have a lot patience working through those. |
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO...I agree - shame on you guys ! Those things are HORRIBLE little things and a B**ch to get out - My vets office front grassy area had them and Chanel walked right into them to do her business - can you believe that - the VET ? I was kind of PO\'d when I saw them all over her tummy and feet - They\'re hard to get out but it can be done....I\'m glad you didn\'t cut them out - that would really be a mess ! |
I\'ve always called them hitchhikers. That is the second thing I don\'t like when we go camping, the first is ticks. Both a pain! |
Oh my! I am so glad I am not the only one here with a dirty mind! LOL!!!!!! :D We have something like that as well, but I had thought they were more like little thistles, any way it was a terrible mess to try and get them suckers out of their hair! :omg: |
Wow I have a really dirty mind...lol..but glad to see I\'m not the only one..Poor little baby, she looks pooped after all that brushing. Coco and I send her kisses :p |
