I've been going back and forth for a while now over whether or not to cut Peanut's hair. I know he will like it better. He's such a rowdy little boy and keeping him in long coat really is not very practical but I loved his long hair.
I guess I will get used to it. What do you guys think?

I'm dreading cutting or having someone else cut Zippy's hair. He needs it! Your photos will make the decision to cut that much easier. Looks Good!

Thanks everyone, you make me feel better :) I'm getting a little more used to it. I'm sure it will be much easier to take care of and he was just so hot last summer. I left it about an 1 1/2" long so he won't get sun burned.

Yes, I used the scissors and it was really a job. Hopefully I'll get better at it as it's not very even in places. I have clippers but I was afraid it would be too short and he would sun burn.

I think you did a great job ! What I do is when it is time for Spice to "get pretty" I will do a little scissoring here and there and within a week she is totally done. She is still in the puppy " I am not sitting still for that" stage and not wanting to accidentally cut her I just trim her legs etc while she is on her dressing table and she is busy with other things and dont pay attention to what I am really doing ! LOL

He looks handsome but I see how it can take some getting use to. I love Emma's hair and have fun putting in the top knot since my daughter is too old for that stuff now.

I think it looks wonderful! I congratulate you on cutting it yourself. I know it isn't an easy job.

I did leave his top knot long so it can still be put up. I'm still waiting for those little wisps of hair by his eyes to grow out long enough to stay in the scrunchie so just couldn't make myself cut that off.
I'm really getting more use to it and I must say the grooming in the morning is a breeze now.
If I hadn't cut it myself, I don't think I would have know it was Peanut when I went back to pick him up.

I shave Dallas and Beaumont nekkid every summer. Between the burs and those oak dangly things that get caught in their coats, and the heat it's just the smart thing to do here in TX. Plus with short coats..... we go to Barton Springs for a swim when it gets crazy hot. Short coats are smart and cute for TX summer!

He would look adorable bald...a beautiful dog!
We get Dinky's hair cut very short and enjoy watching it grow back. He is not AS cute after the grooming. At about 6-8 weeks after, he reaches, what we call "maximum cuteness." Then at about 10-12 weeks, it's time again.
We keep it shorter in the summer and longer in the winter.

Did you notice a change in texture or color from shaving Dinky? I'm on the fence about a summer cut.

I just ordered a 1 1/4" comb attachment for my clippers and will try this next time. Anyone use when of these? I want to keep it about this length and figure if I can do it with the clippers, it will not take as long and should be more even. I'm really liking the short cut now that I'm getting used to it.

He is not very silky, but he is not really coarse. His hair is very soft and smooth, but pretty thick.
I have a goal this week to post some photos, so you will be able to see it at different lengths.
