New Puppy Has long legs? 1 Attachment(s) Sure hope I can remember how to use this forum. I just put a deposit on a 4 month old puppy that a breeder had for sale because this baby is going to be too small to breed. right now is is 2.04 lbs and charting 3.09. I very excited to be getting this little one, as my other one was suppose to only be 4lbs and God only knows how much she weighs now at 2.5 yrs old, but I wouldn't trade her for the world, at the same time I'm so excited to be getting this tiny girl. When I spoke to the breeder Wednesday night to sew things up with her she told me everything about the puppy and also mentioned that "She" feels the legs are a little longer then she prefers for breeding. My heart skipped a beat hearing that, but looking at the pics she sent me I think she might just fill out and it won't even be noticeable, except to me since the breeder brought it t my attention. Now I'd like to figure out how to post a pic of this doll face so you can see the legs and PLEASE give me a honest opinion. It's not going to make a difference because the money is already down on her and I'll be going to pick her up next Saturday.Attachment 403029 |
dog My JoJo has long legs yet the lady that I got him from said he is a Yorkie. Your Yorkie is adorable and I am sure her legs will be fine. Just as cute the way she is. |
Thank you so much Sandy! I'm not really worried about it because she is precious, but just wanted to see if anyone though they were ab-normally long. I don't think they are and she will fill out anyway! :) |
Her legs look fine to me, she is adorable |
In a sit down position it's hard to see the legs, she has an adorable face. My last girl weighed in at 17 lbs, had long legs, kept her coat med. length, could never give her a puppy clip because her legs were quite long, she was a beautiful girl, beautiful personality, and I like the bigger yorkie. My adopted boy is 12 lbs, his legs are on the long side, but he looks good in his puppy clip. From what I can see in the picture her legs do not look abnormally long. Congrats on your soon to be new lil baby. Please keep us up-dated on her adjustment in her new home with you, her new momma. |
I think she is adorable. Her proportions look fine to me. |
Barney has long legs and in my humble opinion he's gorgeous. You can look at my photo album to see pictures of him. One concern I have is his thin structure. I worry that those thin little legs will snap. He thinks he is a little gazelle running and jumping every where. |
Bailey also has long legs and I couldn't love him more. He was older (9 mo.) when I got him and had been groomed to show but grew beyond the standard. He's almost 7 now and he's so good... couldn't ask for a better dog. |
My Zoey has longer legs. Some prefer the very short leg. It's just a matter of preference. Actually, I think the short legs look a little stubby to me. See, it just depends on what you like. |
She is what they call "up on legs", but she is adorable and will not look weird or abnormal! Her legs do not distract from her overall look! When you look at that adorable little face and those beautiful little eyes, her little legs are all part of the precious package! You will not even think about those legs when you get to know her! |
1 Attachment(s) She is adorable! Here's my boys' legs that do distract from his overall appearance!:D Attachment 403039 |
The angle of the picture plus having his close cut makes him look really long legged but I get when he stands up his legs aren't that long. He is just adorable. |
lol, I took another look at your soon to be lil baby, sorry, I thought she was sitting, I see she is not. I don't see long legs, her legs look proportioned for her body size. I assume legs to long to be used as a show dog. When you see that sweet lil face, that's all anyone will see. She is adorable. |
I don't see long legs just shorter hair which may give the appearance of longer legs to someone? Adorable face! |
Well you only gave us one pic. But to me her legs do not look that long. What does look *off* to me is her right front leg at the elbow - a thickening of the joint there. Also in that pic her back is roached. That means bowed upward. This could just be an unfortunate picture or angle that the pic was taken. And btw *knobby* joints can be quite common in young pups. A pup that small is not something I would select, but it is great that there are folks willing to take the extra care that their small size requires:) |
My last yorkie was short weighed 5.5 lbs. My new baby weighs less but it very leggy, everyone things she is much "bigger" than my Shelby was. She is actually very small framed, just tall. I have to have a larger bag for her so she can stretch out but she isn't heavy at all. |
Longer legs are actually a trait sought after in show Yorkies. The breeder may have a preference but it shouldn't be noticeable with the coat. Any pics of her? My boy is 10 months and a tiny 3lbs but his legs are a little long, I love it. |
Thanks for the reply. Yes I do have some pics, but need to add them to my laptop and figure out how to get them on here! Yeah her legs are long, but she is adorable and also only weighs 3 lbs. She will be 7 months on the 14th and not sure she is going to grow much more. She has the girth of size xs, but the length of a size small, so I have to have all her dresses altered. Looing for someone now to add some length to her dresses, they fit like a tee shirt!! I'll post pics soon!! :) |

But about her legs, my Uni has really long legs. So many are used to that stubby cobby leg yorkie that they think long legs are weird. From what I have read, the yorkie's height to the shoulder should be the same length as the distance from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, so when their coat is grown out, it is a big square. Should not be a long, squat rectangle. |
Look at all the World Champion Show dogs. They are all tall. Shows off there coat. Oliver is called the Legend he looks tall . Beside if there only pets you just want a healthy one. QOCCLE'S OLIVER LIGHTSOME - World Pedigree DataBase Yorkshire Terrier, Yorkshire terrier Pedigree DataBase. |
1 Attachment(s) My Prada has skinny long legs too. |
My Kimchi has long legs and a long body, but her structure is dainty (small head & thinner bones) ^^;; and she's only 7 months old now and she has surpassed the size of my smaller jack russell (who's about 5-7 years old) lol when she get a bit pudgy on her torso she could like a sausage on sticks. We call her our super model. :p I'm thinking she's got her mother's long frame but her daddy's dainty structure ^^;; |
My first Yorkie (now passed) was 3 lbs, very fine boned a little longer in leg and just darling. Trinket will be 8 months old this Thursday and she is 2.5 lbs and she is longer in body and built differently than him, I do not believe she has as fine a bone as he did and she does not seem nearly as delicate. I have a 2.5 lb 2 yr old Chihuahua and she is smaller than Trinket. I find it interesting how build and bone can play into how much different dogs can look but be the same weight. |
I'm still learning but Im sure the others are right and you will never notice her legs. Congrats on the new baby! |
She is beautiful! |
