New puppy :-) 1 Attachment(s) Hello everyone. Just wanted to introduce our new puppy :-) |
Welcome. She is a cutie pie! |
Welcome to YT! She is adorable! |
Oh she is beautiful. Congratulations. Wish you both a long, healthy life together. What is her name? Is she your first Yorkie? How old is she? What is she like?..does she sleep well, eat well.... Love to hear how how she's doing. |
What a beauty! Welcome!! |
She is adorable! You must just melt looking into those eyes. |
My teacup Yorkie Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome. :) She is 4 1/2 months old, she weighs 2.8lbs and yes, she is my first Yorkie :-). She is so sweet, but we have only had her for 5 days so we are all still adjusting. I feed her 3 times a day, but it's not always successful :-) At her breeder, she was used to going outside 10-20 times a day as they had doggie doors, but I'm in the city so we are trying to train her on pee pee pad. Not going so well :-( I pray that in time she learns to use the pads!!! |
Welcome to YT, patience will win out, and she's a beautiful little girl. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |

My Teddy was 100% outdoor trained by his breeder who also had a doggy door to a doggy run. I retrained him to use pads too. The key especially for a puppy is to limit her freedom to the area or room where the pad is, and where you can supervise. You may have to go even smaller, and use an xpen with the pad. Be sure to praise and reward when she gets it right. |
Welcome to YT. :) What a sweetie you have! IMHO, the key with training in anything you are trying to accomplish is to be consistent. I totally agree that limiting her freedom, at first until she gets it, should take less time to accomplish. :aimeeyork Of course, treats for rewards is always welcome.;) |
Thanks y'all for all the advice. I will definately continue with what u suggested. It's kind of what I was doing already, so I'm happy to hear I'm on the right track :) Cristina |
Enormous praise is also critical when potty training. Whenever Cookie goes to the bathroom outside I make a really huge deal over it, hugging her, kissing her, running with her, throwing the tennis ball or a chew toy, playing with her, telling her how proud I am of my pee-pee girl, telling she goes outside just like the big girls, etc. Tone is important, so that you can convey how happy and excited it makes you when she goes to the bathroom in the right place. You want to make it feel really good for your pup to use her pee pad. Potty training a yorkie can be a lot of work, so try to not to get too frustrated on bad days (I know, easier said than done sometimes). |
Your baby is adorable. Like everybody said she will eventually get the potty thing down. Consistency and huge praise whenever she does what you want. Sometimes you look a bit silly. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a loon from my carrying on about pottying. I still let Lexi know she's doing the right thing when she runs right out to potty. And she's two years old. |
Congratulations! Absolutely adorable! |
She's super cute! What is her name? Sorry if I missed it. |
