Mommy - Whyyyyy??? 3 Attachment(s) So, the last time I took Mandie to the vet to get her rabies shot, she did ok. Although, she did pee when they were giving her the benadryl shot first. (She's always been an "excited/nervous/submissive" pee-er). This time when I took her back to get her Parvo/Disptemper vac, she knew something was up. She paced the entire time we were waiting on them to come in. There will be a post to follow with pics because I have more than 4 so hang tight. Pre-vet coming in - pacing. What's up, Mommy? I hear stuff goin on out there..what's going on? Attachment 391681 Attachment 391682 Attachment 391683 .... |
3 Attachment(s) They came in and gave her the benadryl shot..and yes, she peed all over the table again. Then, they left. This goes from: Pic 1: hiding in the corner between the seat and table Attachment 391684 Pic 2: relaxing from the shot but wondering why I'm doing this (also please excuse that hair on my shirt - I need a lint roller lol) Attachment 391685 Pic 3: Just before they came to give her the vac, she finally curled up to sleep - Bless my girl. I love her! Attachment 391686 |
:(:(:(:( Poor baby.... |
Lynzy, she finally forgave me when we got home and then I did the unthinkable - I turned on the oven to cook potato skins for the football game. She hid behind the bed for an hour until she finally came back out. I don't think she has really forgiven me for that one yet. She was giving me the stink eye as I was leaving for work this morning. LOL (note: she freaks out when you cook in the oven - not on the stove - just in the oven) |
Awe poor Mandie . . she don't want nothing to do with that. Why does she take Benadryl shots ? |
Because I'm "that" lady. I've read so many horror stories on here from vac reactions and I know benadryl can't hurt so I give it to her just in case. It's only $20 more and I just think I have more peace of mind getting it. She's perfectly fine after we leave the vet. She doesn't have any intense nervous reaction to the 2nd of the shots so I don't think it puts any undue stress on her. She'd be scared and pee on the 1st shot no matter if it's benadryl or the vac so I do it. With that said...I am a firm believer in that the vacs are not needed every year (and I did the 3 year rabies) so she won't have to go thru this again for a very long time. ;) |
My little Gina would shake and hide behind me every time we went to the vet's office. Zoey, she can't wait to get in and say hi to everyone and their dog. She makes so much noise it's ridiculous. I have to keep her leashed in the exam room because she will dart out the door and run all over their back rooms. |

Hahaha, dear gosh I haven't used mine yet, I hope to goodness Vinnie lets me use it! This is funny as heck! Did you atleast give her a little piece of the potato skin??? |

We did get to meet a fellow couple with a larger Yorkie. He wasn't feeling well and was 14 years old. They said he couldn't hear well. But he was so mild mannered. His cut and all looked just like Brit's Jackson to me. Mandie kept trying to get over to him. But once we got past the waiting room..she was ready to get out of Dodge. lol |

Thats ok, my furbutts got in to my Burger King fries when I answered the door last night and ate every single greasy one of them...strangely nothing bad has happened....yet:D |
Poor thing:( She's the cutest. Joel is right there with her, he is a shaker at the vets. |
Poor sweet darling baby girl! Good on you for administering benadryl b4 her vacs...I had 2 that had allergic reactions to vaccines & it scared me to death. It's not something to fool around with... |
Awwwww..... |

Aww that sweet face. I am glad all she had was stink eye for you and no reaction. Glad she had potato skin and a cookie to ease the pain ;) And the the hair, lol . . . I get it. Even though I change right before I go out I still have hair on me. Lmao |

Yeah, she liked the potato skin. She didn't get any of the cheese or bacon though. On a better note - her Daddy cooked dinner today so she has forgiven me and is now giving Daddy the cold shoulder hehe |

Mandie is such a cutie pie :) Pebbles doesn't like the oven either, she always gives it a wary glance when I turn it on and keeps well away from it. |
Aww, it is really sad to see them so scared about the vet! I took mine to get her first rabies shot just a few days ago and they took her in the back without me to do it (I wasn't happy about that, was so nervous waiting for her to get back). When they got back, they had washed her butt because she had pooped when they gave her the shot! She really doesn't like the vet, poor baby. |

Anyway, no way in heck would they take my baby out of my sight during shots. Never even had a vet try to do that. Wonder why yours did...? |
I always give my girls a couple cc children's benadryl before we leave for the vet. That way it's set in by the time the vet comes in and they're ready to go, plus it saves me $15. Poor Mandie...I had no idea she was so nervous about those types of things. :( I bet she's much better today. |
Poor Mandie. She is adorable, even when she is dreading the vet. |
Aww, she's so pretty. Poor little girl having to get those nasty shots!! You know, we get the Benadryl too and our vet has never charged me for it. We really have the most wonderful vet, though. I'm so lucky to have found her. |
Poor baby... I hate taking my two to the vet. They shake and shivver and I feel like such a horrible momma. |
