Norbie I have a small 4 lbs yorkie. He has double canines on one side of his mouth. The vet says they need to come out. But I've heard horror story's that little dogs like that have trouble after they have there teeth pulled out and I'm just terrified for them to put him to sleep. What should I do? |
I agree with your vet. The double canines are going to trap food and cause problems for your pup. I would have blood work done before your pup undergoes anesthesia. It's good to have as a baseline anyway. The anesthesia today is very safe when used by a vet who is used to administering it with small animals. (Isoflourine, Sevoflourine). I strongly believe good dental health is critical to overall health of our babies. One of my Rainbow Bridge babies, Ashley, needed to have an infected tooth pulled. She was sixteen and had an enlarged heart, but she still did fine. Ashley was four pounds too. I wish you the best of health and love with your baby. |
How old is your pup?... I'm assuming he's done teething? If so, then I also think they need to come out. As long as you have a good vet and is taking all precautions, I think it'll be okay. Although, I think it'd be a good idea for you to search through the forums and look up any info as to what to look out for in case something is off. Magnus had his teeth cleaned last year and did fine. By the time I went to pick him up, he was wide awake and ready to play. LOL Zoey apparently still has her baby teeth which I didn't even realize. The vet mentioned it recently so she will have her dental done early next year. I was planning on having her teeth cleaned anyway so I might as wait and get it all done together. |
