First Time Yorkie mommy ;) 1 Attachment(s) Hi Everyone! My name is Kim and I will be bringing home my new yorkie puppy "pepper" on Saturday!! We are sooo excited as I have always wanted a yorkie!! My very first dog was a shih Tzu and he was lovely but for reasons out of our control I could not keep him.....second dog was a toy poodle Jazz ABSOLUTELY loved this dog!!! but Jazz died less than a year ago....after that hurt I swore off dogs! no more because my heart couldn't handle the loss.......until I came across pepper and had to have her, lol......here is a pic of my baby girl she is close to 12 weeks old. I look forward to interacting with other yorkie dog owners as I know I will have lots of questions.:) |
what a cutie I'm a new yorkie mom of 6 months as well. how exciting for you! |
Welcome and congratulations. You will not regret opening your heart up again. Pepper is adorable. |
Welcome:) |
Hi Kim! Welcome to YT~ Glad you found us. Oh my goodness, that face just melts my heart. She is adorable. Congrats to you!! I’m sorry for your loss. It is such a hard thing to go through, however I’m so happy for you- Pepper ( love the name) is going to bring you so much joy, love, frustration.. followed by more love so you forget about the stress of having a puppy! LOL Peanut is my first dog- I’ve had him since he was about 10 weeks- he is 6 years old. He is my heart and soul. Yorkies are very special. Pepper will wrap you around that paw the moment she passes your front door!! One thing I love about YT is meeting all the new members.. seeing all of them talk about bringing home their babies. I've watched many yorkies grow up here, it is really a joy. The stories the members share are always entertaining. The pictures are always adorable even if they are doing something naughty.. and of course seeing the pictures of the famous “ Stink eye”. You have found a wonderful place!! Can’t wait to see more pics of Miss Pepper and hear some stories~ please ask any questions you have!! |

LOL, thank you and Peanut is soooo cute!!! Thank you for the welcome and I cannot wait to get pepper home with us :-) |
Pepper looks spectacular! How big is she? It's a good idea to have a tube of Nutrical to give them when it looks like their blood sugar is low or they haven't been eating enough, at least until they put a little bit of size on. It really perks up the appetite. Potty training my pup was going really rough until I started giving her a command to go to the bathroom. I'd give the command mid-squat when she was in the middle of peeing/pooping outside and of course lots of encouragement after, and that's when my girl Cookie really started making a turn towards being potty trained (still not close to there yet at 21 weeks though, but steady progress every week). |

Welcome to YT, your baby is adorable....you will learn so much from this forum. |
Welcome! Welcome to YT! I'm a newbie here too but I've had Yorkies for about 5 years now, and they are the lights of our life! Pepper is so adorable! Congratulations! :):aimeeyork |
Thanks everyone!!! I'm soooo excited!!! I think we have everything.....puppy pads, toys, collar (which she wont wear right away because of potty training) and the breeder is giving me TONS of stuff for her. Right now Pepper is 10 weeks old and she weighs just a little over 2-lbs.....and you are so right.....Saturday is NOT coming fast enough, lol |
I'm a first time mother of a yorkie, too! Hi, I'm Sue and became a yorkie mom July 5 when I adopted Princess LuLu. I saw her picture on line and fell in love. My husband and I had looked at yorkies for years, but his health began to decline and his doctor recommended we not get a puppy yet. We went to San Diego for him to have major, rare, surgery in March. Though my husband came through surgery fine and the surgery was a major success, he contracted hospital acquired pneumonia and passed away March 22. His funeral was March 29, what would have been our 44th wedding anniversary. I have been so lonely and decided that since we were planning to get a puppy when we came home, I would go ahead and adopt a precious little girl. She is so wonderful! When I cry, she licks my tears and makes me smile. We are an inseparable duo! Once I figure out how to post a picture of her, I will. Sue |
