Went to the park and had a scare! We walked to the park today and ran around a lot. He drank plenty of water and on the walk back home I think he got a heat stroke or something:( He just stopped walking and sat down so I thought he hurt his foot since he never gets tired, he walks alot. So I made him walk a few steps to see what was wrong and he was wobbling around, I was so worried I forced water in his mouth and also sprinkled it on his back and head. I picked him up and he was so limp, I used a hat to keep the sun off his head. I was so scared and carried him the whole way home, he drank a lot at home and he's fine now, fine enough that he's getting in to stuff lol, I keep telling him to go lay down:rolleyes: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ead8be6312.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...6132ce82cb.jpg His left ear flops when he runs lol http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...963cc5476e.jpg This is when I picked him up, he looks so sick:( http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ca61d2aee5.jpg |
One more pic:) The carnival took over our field lol http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...614_120328.jpg |
Wow, scary! I'd have freaked out! Glad you were able to help him out. I guess our guys aren't used to this heat wave! |
I am certainly not an expert, but I know we have to be careful with these little guys out in the heat. Maybe someone that knows something can help. Heat stroke? |
aww joel is so cute and he probably got a little over heated. I always bring a bowl and keep it in my car and bring some spring water. Glad he is ok:) |
That would have totally freaked me out! I'm glad he's doing ok now. |
Glad he's doing better! That would have scared me to death too. He is adorable Genea |
I'm glad he's doing better! That is scary. If it happens again, definitely take him in for a look-see at the vet. Check his heart. Overheating is so scary. |
Poor Joel! Glad he's alright now! What a scare you had!!! |
I am glad he is ok. I got a H2O4K9 Stainless Steel K9 Water Bottle. They work great. H2O4K9 - The water bottle for dogs. |
Wow.....so glad he is ok! Scarrrry! |
Poor Joel :( I'm glad he's doing better ;) |
I always take one of our Gulpy bottlse on outings. If it's a hot day, I squeeze the bottle to fill the tray & let her drink, and then rather than just pour the excess water way, I dip her paws in the water. Getting the paws cooled really helps to cool down a dog. Glad to hear that Joel is doing well now :) |
Glad to hear Joel is feeling better. I also bring along water and I wet Buster's ears, paws and belly with the water to help cool him down. |
I never thought I'd have to worry about him over heating here lol but then again he's a snow dog, born in the winter:) The funny thing is he drank lots of water while he was playing, I think it was too much walking, all the way there, then running and playing and then walking all the way back.
