First pictures 2 Attachment(s) So all these new YT babies going home have me reminiscing about Ruby and Rosie coming home. How giddy and excited I was...I drove 6 hours to pick them up and it seem to take FOREVER to get there!! Here are their very first pictures when they became mine! Ruby's pic was taken 12/11 and Rosie's was taken 3/12. Does any one else have a "first" picture they want to share?? |
How sweet your babies are! Don't you just love the vulnerable but tough little Yorkie? They are ALL so precious but these two are just special! Each one of your cuties is so adorable it makes me want to rush right out and bring back two or three Yorkies right now from the first reputable breeder or rescue I can raise. There is nothing like a little Yorkie picture to bring a big smile of recognition. I see familiarity in each Yorkie - something I recognize from my own dogs over the years and I guess that's why all of them here start to grow dear to us in some virtual way. They all do favor in some ways and seem like "family". I'll upload one of Tibbe's first pictures soon. He was 9 mos. old and his coat was growing out long and he was very much darker, not curly then. He barely looks like the same dog! |
Thanks Jeanie- Your post is so true! I don't think there is a yorkie out there that I can't fall in love with just because they have yorkie in them. All these new babies are giving me the urge to get a new baby but...I believe I have space for one more dog in my home and I am reserving that spot for a rescue when I've a bit more time to work with a foster!! Its so fun watching the new puppies going home and the excitement their mommies and daddies are having!! I can't wait to see Tibbe's first picture!!! :) |

I just love all the picts! The babies all look so precious. I especially love the look on Rosie's face as she sits in your lap! Like she knows she's going to her wonderful forever home!! Great picts!! |
Here is a picture of Tibbe his second day home. He was a kennel-crazy, wild, fear-riddled dog who'd never been out of an outside cage much his whole 9 mos. of life, apparently drank from a guinea-pig bottle and had his food thrown into his cage or something from the way he acted. He did not seem to know what bowls were for! He would stand in his water bowl and eventually spill it everywhere as well as his food bowl so I had to keep his food/water in container lids to keep the mess down as I was training him about the world and how life should and could be for a dog. He preferred to use a blanket for peeing/pooping over using the paper or pee pads I got him so rather than doggie blankets at first I used towels I could wash with bleach! In time, he learned how to be a real dog and not just a caged animal and is now the perfect, well-trained pet, happy and healthy except for some left-over panic attacks from certain new noises but we work on those as they happen. He was not a very happy little boy when I got him but he soon found his smile and he lives large. |
1 Attachment(s) Whoa - forgot the picture of 9 mos. old Tibbe in my Jilly's old crate. Hopefully, here it is: |

Ohh I just love these sweet baby faces! |
I so agree about the baby faces. All puppies are cute but to me, but a Yorkie puppy face is beyond all others in what appeals most to me. |

Care to share more info on Tibbe? was he a puppy mill pup? a rescue? How awesome his life has turned for the better, eh!?!??!?!?! What a cutie he is in that picture! |
I've shared it so much here many tired of reading about it, no doubt. After Jilly had been dead 4 years and over a year of searching rescues and Animal Shelters and coming home dogless and sad, I called Jilly's breeder. She had some dogs a former breeder had placed with her for rehoming, including puppies and 2 or 3 older dogs, bred from two dogs she had sold that lady. She was mad, upset as the dogs were in bad shape, she'd learned on checking that the lady had apparently housed the dogs outside in cages year round and hadn't been caring for them, especially recently, due to going through a divorce. She said the dogs were dirty, matted, had long nails, retained, dirty baby teeth in the older dogs when she got them and cried as she worked to vet and help them, kept not getting an answer when she called the woman for an explanation and furious she was so taken in by the lady, whom she thought she knew. I went over to see one of the female pups but when she sat Tibbe down first and he kept going in a fast circle with his tail clamped down, ears back, eyes walled, my heart melted. He was obviously terrified and such a needy boy, had to have somebody that would bring him along patiently and slowly but not accepting his poor behavior or I felt he could become a fear-biter or just hide from everything as he shook in fear for the rest of his days. She said she so hoped I'd take him over a puppy as he was special needs after I said "he's mine". So home we came as he shook and had fits in the carrier and he was wild, tried to fight, bite, screamed, barked nonstop, bit his cage, was terrified of the house and everything new, even grass and trees, sidewalks, TV's, the fridge, doorbells, bowls, me and everything. He shook nonstop for 2 weeks with walled eyes, even after check-ups and initial assessments by the vets showing that he wasn't in pain, ill, etc. So his teeth were professionally cleaned, retained teeth pulled, a couple of months later he was neutered, chipped and we one-by-one worked hard to overcome almost all of his issues while creating a happy dog in the process; and, except for certain stereo sounds he hears on the Surround Sound system, which can cause a panic attack, he's re-invented himself. But now he can throw a panic-attack off in a short time as we go through the steps of calming through redirection. He's now the absolute perfect little Yorkshire Terrier! Clean in the house, loves his bath, full of vim and vigor, lots of attitude, sassy, bouncy and fun, always smiling, healthy, loves to work training, jumping, doing tricks, beautifully obedient and cuddles like the best lapdog. He's come so far. |
You are an angel and a life saver, literally! You are my example for what I hope to do. Even though our Princess Sophie isn't even in our home, we will raise her to be a well mannered girl! I shared in a different post that we tried to do a Yorkie rescue first. I'm working with local officials to put this woman out of business and I'm sure we will try to do a rescue again. Thank you for being such a shining example to all of us of what can be achieved when you put a pet first, when they have been last for so very long. God Bless You!! |
