May I ask what you used? I have had my little one for about 3 months now, I can't see here eyes, and I would love to groom her, but I also dont want to pay to have it done. | Hi! Here is a photo of my "equipment". Nothing fancy or expensive. To the far left is a pair of nail clippers. I watched a few youtube videos on how to properly use these. Then next is a pair of regular shears. Then a pair of curved shears. The curved shears aren't totally necessary, but are a bit easier to use simply because they are longer. I'm sure any pair of shears will do the job. Then one of those 2 sided slicker brushes. Again, this is not necessary, at least not for Daisy. I have a brush I bought from Family Dollar for $1 that I LOVE. But for this particular grooming session, I used this brush. I bought everything on Ebay and spent less than $20.
First I trimmed up her body hair, then I put her hair in a ponytail up top, and I CAREFULLY cut the extra hair around her ears. I cut her facial hair, then bathed her in Mane & Tail shampoo, blowdried and then cut again, just to neaten her up and address anything I missed before her bath. I also have a pair of clippers (super cheap from Wal-Mart) but I have not yet mastered how to use them, so they're just collecting dust right now. Perhaps I will post a video the next time I groom her, as I personally learn from visuals. :) I'm no expert, but I'm sure if I could do a decent job, anyone can. Just be sure to take your time and cut a little at a time. Let her get used to the scissors and have some treats handy. |
