Where did my ball go, Mom? I want to play.
 

My little girl, Katie, is such a lovebug, but she also lives to play. She especially loves to fetch her little balls, particularly when we play outside. We play a few times a day, mostly outside, but with the darkness coming early, we have had to alter our playtimes. Despite this, every time we go outside, no matter for what reason, Katie starts dancing because she thinks I will be throwing her ball. Sometimes it's a challenge to take her for a walk, because she'd love to be able to take it with her.

We had a nor'easter which droppe a bit of snow. I wasn't planning on playing ball, but Katie had other ideas. I figured I'd throw the ball a couple of times for her, and then we'd go inside. What I didn't consider was that the weight of the ball would make it sink. Katie kept running for the ball, but it would sink on her, and she'd look all over for it.

The first pictures are of Katie looking at me, as if to say, "What happened to my ball, Mom?" She is a real tomboy, but she also is a prima donna. She did not want to get her face wet in the snow. I definitely need to get her soft booties for the snow.

She is such a pretty little girl.

I love this little girl but then I know I'm prejudice. She has such a special home and could not be more loved! Her Mom and Dad are totally devoted to everything related to Katie and her happiness. To hear your voice when the two of you are playing is like listening to the a kid on Christmas morning. It has been such a wonderful match. Nothing could have worked out better.

Awwww Lisa, thanks for sharing those pictures they truly are darling. She is so beautiful...honestly, what a beautiful little face. I have to say she looks so Happy you can just see all the love you have for her in that little face of hers. Thank you for all of your kind words. Katie is so much fun, and as I'm sure it is with your Yorkies too, every day is an adventure. I can only imagine how cute (personality-wise) she must have been as a puppy, because she is so adorable now. I really want to ask her breeder if she was trained to play with her ball as she does. She runs for the ball as if she was going out for a football pass, and when she can't find it, she does the greatest job tracking it. I wonder if she learned from the breeder, her Yorkie siblings, or her Border Collie sibling before she came to us on Mother's Day at the age of three or if it's something she innately learned. It always warms my heart when I read such nice things about my little girl.

Awh I can answer that question for you! Of course she learnt from the breeder and her pack. Just look at the videos when Ilona and I went to the cottage this summer... Ilona always plays with her puppies and then her adult dogs always every day for several hours a day. But Katie has huge toy drive, as you know each dog is different, but Katie is like Razzle in her toy drive. I did tell you she was a female Razzle:D

The only thing is Ilona "always" uses a ball, and I train with different toys, shapes etc, so my dogs will look at anything I throw as a Prime play toy. :p

Katie is gorgeous and I too am so happy to hear the love and lilt in your voice when you speak of her. She is where she belongs, with two loving humans who not only adore her, but give her lots of good times with exercises, walking, and playing.

Thank you to two very special people and my very dear friends. It is because of both of you that our lives have been so beautifully transformed by Katie. I hope it makes both of you feel really good that you were part of something so special and that brightened our lives so much. Your faith in John and me and your role in bringing Katie into our lives means the world to us. We will be forever grateful to both of you, for Katie and also for so many other precious acts of kindness and friendship towards us.

Gail, you know I have always loved Razzle's personality, so to have a little one similar in personality to him is so much fun. Katie is definitely toy driven, and she is so full of personality. She is discovering other kinds of toys now, but that's still a work in progress. She loves her balls! I should have thought to ask you specifically about the way Katie tracks her ball and also how she follows it visually from throw to catch. Katie is just so confident, so I know she was so very loved and taken care of by Ilona, and I know that Ilona spends hours each day playing with and training her dogs. I just wondered if those are things that Katie was trained to do. I just love the joy in her face and in her every movement when Katie plays. Our babies count on us to care for them and to give them the love, attention, proper nutrition, medical care, and exercise that they need. I feel so very blessed to be able to do that for Katie and to also have such very dear friends.

Your Katie is beautiful! I have a 3 year old, Lucy, who I've had since she was 8 weeks old. Chasing the ball is her favorite thing to do! Inside, outside... it doesn't matter. She loves to sit on my bed, I throw the ball to her and she hits it back to me with her nose. She gets so excited every time we go into the bedroom cause she thinks I"m going to toss her the ball... she shakes and jumps and barks with joy!
Lucy is my first small dog. I've had Golden Retrievers, a Norwegian Elkhound and a Wire Fox Terrier but Lucy is the best ever!

I always enjoy seeing Katie's pictures and can tell how much she means to you. Tibbe was really sick in late Feb., early March and sick with his tummy troubles in June and when we were out walking today in the warm windy weather, he was so happy and kicking up his heels and sniffing everything, barking when dogs barked at him from yards and I once again was so grateful he's healthy again. I will never ever take him for granted and each day I'm thankful he's okay.

I can just tell Katie is happy and healthy too from her smiling pictures and know from your having had very sick little ones in the past, it is so wonderful to see them at the top of their game, thoroughly enjoying all of life. Enjoy every moment of her!

Katie is such a beautiful girl! I love the contrast of her coat colors, striking red bow, and black sweater against the snow. Wish my boys didn't like getting their faces wet in the snow -- Katie's hair is perfect!
