Toto's first few days at home, she didn't want to eat but has always been a big "drinker"!! Don't know where that little girl puts all the water she drinks sometimes, which is good. They need to drink or they will dehydrate. Our vet is a firm believer in "when they get hungry, they will eat!" If I were them I would ask the vet about NutriCal. It supplies nutrients and vitamins, etc. when they go through those "picky eater" phases and also helps with hypoglycemia [sp?]. We still give Toto 2cc every day and she will soon be 20 months old! We use the vet formula. We also use the Royal Canin Yorkshire 28 which is formulated especially for yorkies. I believe someone said they also have a puppy formula. When we got Toto she was a little older than Homer and I believe we fed her about a tablespoon of soft food 3-4 times a day. We gave her Honeycomb cereal, broken into about four pieces each, for treats. She only got a total of 6 pieces a day [broken into 4 pieces each gave her 24 tiny treats a day] and it was great during training. She would do anything for a piece of that ... still will.
I'm sure Homer will thrive ... takes a little time for everyone to get adjusted! Keep us posted ... BTW ... when does he get to come visit Grandma?? ;) |
