Our First Furster Kid 1 Attachment(s) I have absolutely no idea what type of dog she is, but we'll find out more tomorrow from our vet regarding that. I think she's some sort of cream Dachshund mixed with something else judging from her body type. She's cute. She has no name because I'm afraid if I give her one, I'll become more attached than I already have become.:( She's fully housebroken (bonus), and will be going in for bloodwork, shots, and a spay tomorrow (she'll hate me, sigh). She gets along great with Brussels and Bella. |
She's adorable :) How were you planning on finding her a new home? |
She's cute! Maybe a Dorky? (Dachshund X Yorkie):D |
Hi, I haven't the foggiest idea to be honest...I just wanted to get her off of Craigslist and away from irresponsibles. We're getting her all her shots (regardless of whether or not she's already had some, the vet said she'd be fine), bloodwork, and a spay. After that, I have no idea how to find her a responsible home. Any ideas would be accepted, appreciated, and thoroughly considered. I know regardless of how we do it, I would demand to see the home she'd be living in as well as meet the people she would have regular contact with, and I would demand vet references. No vet references=not getting doggy. I've also noticed she loves to run, so I (might) require that any prospectives have a fenced in yard. Other than that, I just don't know yet. We won't be finding her a home until she's completely, 100% recuperated from her spay procedure and back to herself though. We can't keep poking around Craigslist looking for unaltered pets to fix and get vet care for (let alone the fact that we can't afford to, lol). I just don't see the harm in bringing home a pet to have it fixed and rehomed once in a while. =/ People shouldn't be letting their pets out to run rampant through the city, especially unaltered ones.:animal-pa |
My guess is Silky/Westie, or Silky doxie. Very cute!!! |

She is a little doll. I'm not so sure she isn't a dorkie. She really is cute. |
3 Attachment(s) Well, Bella finally tuckered out and fell asleep in our kitty's hide-a-box. "Furster kid" is sleeping at my feet, and Brussels is asleep on the couch, LOL. They really wore each other out tonight, and had so much fun together. Silky/Dachshund seems like a big possibility to me, though I didn't think of it until you mentioned it. I know she's Dachshund something-or-other I just don't know what. Either way she's cute. She follows me around everywhere I go. If I move my foot the slightest bit she scoots her bottom against it..if I go potty she follows me. If I go to the kitchen to get a drink, she follows me there, too. Strange behavior for a dog I've never met. lol [Edit] - also..I have brushed her, and for whatever reason, the front half of her is straight and the bottom half is curly...it's really cute (and funny). Here are three more of her. It's a shame, I tried to get all three of them together, but every time I took a picture it was just three little blurs |
She is cute, but I still think I am seeing a bit of yorkie in that face. Too cute! |
Whoa...you might be onto something with the dorkie...I found this on google images and she sure looks a LOT like this dog (a dorkie). http://puppyer.com/img/other_dogs/dorkie_592_15.jpg [Edit/Update] She just went into the bedroom to lay by Bella's playpen...aghh...no we cannot keep this poopsie..no no and no. lol She really has umm...how shall I say this? Large teets. I'm wondering if she has had puppies recently? =/ I would have no way of knowing. She sure is being very protective and hovering over Bella though so it makes me curious. I'm guessing the vet could tell me in the morning. :] |
thankfully theres people like you in the world, this poor little baby, she looks like a dorky. hope you find her a great new home:) |
So, now are you keeping her?:D |

It does stink though, because I couldn't believe the way Bella bonded with her, and her with Bella. Almost the moment we walked in the door she was acting like Bella's mum. Brussels likes her too, and earlier they were sleeping curled up in a ball together...if Brussels wasn't a completely different color I'm not sure I'd be able to tell where one ended and the other began. lol ...I'm sure she'll be just as happy, if not moreso, with her future family as she is here. =') |

What concerns me is...if she did have puppies recently; what happened to the puppies?:( |
Well, fostering a pup is always tough. My mom and I were known as the Doggy Half-Way house back in my home town. We fostered, got vet care for, rehabilitated, and found homes for 30 dogs in my lifetime alone. A few I ended up really really attached too, like my lab Sammy, ended up as furever fur kids. Whenever I can get back in a place to be able to do that, I wanna pick up the fostermommy title again. Good luck, as to finding her forever home, reach out to your vet. Put up a sign in the office if you can. Anyone who is taking their dog to the vet is likely to be a good parent to their pup/kitty or knows someone who is. You can also get the vets voucher on the person who may call you. Vets know good peoples. |
Thank you for all the advice, everyone! "Furkid" already has a home in store for her! A man my husband works with said his folks were looking for another dog. The wife called me at 5am this morning (waking me up out of a heavy sleep). Their 16 year old Silky Terrier passed away shortly after Thanksgiving, 2011. These people live in a nice home with a large fenced-in yard. Furkid's appointment for shots, bloodwork and spay has been rescheduled for Thursday (she should feel better by then, she had quite a reaction to our food). These people want to pay for all of it! She'll stay in our care until our vet releases her. I want to be assured she's getting it all done. We are going out to their home this afternoon to talk with them first, and reassure me and hubby that this is indeed a good home for Furkid, as sometimes what you hear isn't always what is real. They have no children at home anymore and they're lonely without Mollzies (not sure if I'm spelling that correctly, but it was their Silky's name). I really feel this couple will be awesome for Furkid. They have tentatively named her Cagney. I'll call her that so she can get used to it. Apparently it's the Mrs' favorite character from some TV show. lol!:p IF this all turns out the way it seems to be...I'll be SO excited for Furkid..err.. "Cagney". Please have warm fuzzies and prayers for little "Cagney" that this isn't too good to be true. :'') |
Sigh...well somehow I knew that was too good to be true. They did have a Silky Terrier named Mollzy, that was about the only part that was factual. They do not have a fenced in yard...and they already have six other dogs, which is already over the legal limit in that area. This all came from their son. I'm not worried, I'm just disappointed. I know this little girl will get a great home in time. |
