My little fashionesta was really rocking her new dress from Cynthia at Prissy Paws Fashion at the childrens hospital this weekend. She was a major attention hog! It was the first time I ever put her in a dress for her therapy dog visits - everyone loved it and couldn't keep their eyes off her. :D Its hard to tell in the pic, but the dress is a orange & hot pink. (That's her in the wagon of course.)
She looked so cute I could hardly stand it!!!!

Thanks! Yeah, its true she knows. lol I heard someone the other day talking to her and said, "Well, Heidi you just know how cute are you, don't know you!" It made me laugh. She is pretty confident, but if questions something she definitely wants her mommy!

How cute! We love the tutus from Prissy Paws too. I think orange looks great with yorkie coloring. How sweet she visits the hospital. I'm sure she puts a big smile on everyone's face, especially all dressed up!

P.S. If you want the look of an even fuller tutu, you can separate the layers of the tulle individually. I say the more poof the better on my girls. :D

I'm with you -- the more poof on the tutu the better! I like them short & sassy, and bright colors. That pic was later at home & it had gotten smashed down. At the hospital when i pulled out the tutu to put it on her before our visits, an older gentleman I was with groaned when he saw it. Lol
Heidi always puts a smile on people's face, but that tutu sent it over the top! ;)

She's absolutely gorgeous and doing a wonderful thing at Children's Hospital...I know the kids had a ball with all the doggies :D

Thank you! Well, truthfully I don't know how much of a ball the kids have -- most of them are pretty sick and don't feel like much & in bed the whole time, but at least it usually brings a smile to their face and hopefully brings a bright spot in their day. I think I'm the one that benefits the most, I really enjoy doing it. Its surprising how much the parents (& siblings) like it too. Life's hard on them too with a child in the hospital and plus seeing their child have something to be happy about.
Even the staff get excited when the dogs come in. :yay_jump:

It is a very good thing you are doing. I can remember when my DH's dad was in a nursing home about 8 hours away. When we went to visit, we stayed overnight and brought our yorkie, Jessie. She was not a therapy dog but they let her in the home. Everyone perked up when she was there . Even DH's dad who claimed he didn't like dogs, was letting her jump on his bed and over him before the first visit was over. He then changed his opinion to he didn't like dogs except Jessie. So funny.

How did Jessie like his visit to the nursing home? Was he a little nervous? I do a nursing home & asst. living too. I find it different than the hospital. Heidi is ok with it, but last time one of the nurses young daughter was there and as soon as Heidi saw her she came to life. She obviously favors children. (Which is wierd because she's hardly ever around children!)

I love it that your DH's dad changed his mind! Lol I find that a lot in the residents too. They will be like nope, I don't want to hold her... to well, just for a second... ahhh, she loves me and is my best friend.
I don't know how anyone could see the beautiful Yorkies here on YorkieTalk and not fall head over heels for them! :)

Your reply made me cry... but I'm not upset with you... I just remember my Mom being in the hospital and then in a rehab wing of a nursing home... when one of the hugely too fat cats wandered into her room and jumped up on the side of her bed, she grabbed the cat and buried her face in its fur, quietly sobbing... Her precious Jazzy was at home with me now, but love can be borrowed... They had (hugely fat) dogs as well that slept under the nurses station. They were pets that had belonged to former residents that had died. They try to adopt them out, but some just become permanent. The hugely fat part comes from the waaayyy too easy begging from resident trays. One huge yellow lab had a regular supper route!

I wouldnt mind doing some volunteering visit once a week at a children's hospital with coco

Not sure if you meant me or Carol607, but yes those places can be tough when they don't want to be there. I'm sorry about your mom. I think that's really nice though when they let them have animals like that. I bet those dogs & cats make a haul begging!

I joined the therapy dog division of our local dog club. They already have visits set up at regularly scheduled times with different organizations. You just pick what works best with your schedule.
If you don't have a dog club like that, also run a search for Therapy Dogs International, Delta Society or Therapy Dogs Inc.
Not sure of the requirements in all the groups, but our group we have to have Beginning Obedience (10 wks), Novice Obedience (10 wks), and pass your Canine Good Citizen test. I do know in the other groups they have tests also.

I find it very rewarding and haven't had a bit of trouble with anyone being rough with her. You just have to keep a close watch just in case.
