after a bath, dry natural or hair dryer? i always usually let bella dry natural and she is just soooo soft and her fur is lovley! was thinking of blowdrying her but i thought id better ask first :P x;) |
sorry wrong place! |
I do a bit of both. A quick blast with the hairdryer, (but in the direction that the hair grows), then leave the rest to nature. :D |
ps...just looked at Bellas photos...what a cutie she is..xx |
I wrap Riley like a Burrito in his towel after his bath and dry him as much as possible.... then just let him run around and dry naturally..... :) |

I've been blow drying yorkie hair since my first yorkie 13 years ago and I still do it to both my girls. Their hair looks gorgeous blow dried. I suggest doing it. Just be careful when blow drying them. :) |
I blow dry while brushing. It's just like human hair...think of how much smoother your own hair is if you brush while blowdrying instead of just letting it dry naturally. It gives a much smoother, silkier, traditional yorkie look. |
I blow dry and brush at the same time. However, my question is if you blow dry are you using a dog dryer or a human hair dryer? |
I blow dry depending on the weather. when I do blow dry, I make sure to keep it on low and move it around alot. |
I blow dry with a human dryer on the cool setting- I also make sure to continually blow over my hands/arms to insure it is staying cool. |
I blow dry on low and be careful not to stay in one spot too long - like Hotrod said. I think it helps keep the coat from matting too. |

Ok, that is what I do. Just wanted to make sure it was ok to use a human one!! :) |

i towel dry and then let them dry on there own. This time of year mine are kept in short coats so takes no time at all to dry |

Mine act like they are freezing to death after a bath and that is with wrapping them in a warm towel for about 15 minutes and then I blow dry them. |
Mine smell like dogs unless I blow dry their hair. I do let them air dry a bit before I get out the hairdryer though! |
We do the 'burrito' method mentioned above. lol |
Mine get wrapped in a nice toasty towel fresh from the dryer(luke warm), then they get rocked and cuddled for a bit, then blow dry, brush and repeat! I do notice their hair stays nice and neat for a lot longer than when I u sed to air dry. |
We do the warm towel wrap first, then I used to let them zoom for about 10 minutes before drying them. However, with Max's recent eye problems, I hold on to him and don't give him a chance to rub his head. Teddy is a strange Yorkie and begs for the hair dryer immediately. He doesn't like being wet. :p |

That is too funny!! |
I let Teddie dry au natural...he HATES the blowdryer and loudly protests it. LOL |

I would like to find a stand for the hairdryer so that I can brush/comb, have both hands free, while drying. |
He is odd that way. He goes to the "drying station" and gives the "pleeeease" look. I think he was well-trained by his breeder who held onto him until he was 8 month old. I would like to find a stand for the hairdryer so that I can brush/comb, have both hands free, while drying.
Me too! If you find one please share!! |
I blow dry while brushing too. |
I let Tallulah run loose in the kitchen while I hold the blowdryer steady. She loves to have the wind in her face as long as it's under her terms. She can move out of the dryer's path if it gets too warm. Makes a stress free way of making sure she gets dry. |
I blow dry mine as well. It really does make their hair smoother, nicer and I think it also helps keep them tangle free when you blow dry versus drying naturally. Plus I can't stand to see them shivering and they stop shivering when I am blow dry them. Destiny loves the hair dryer for some reason. Anytime I have the hair dryer out whether I'm drying my own hair or one of the dogs she runs over and lays on my lap below the dryer. |
This is great news as I have been blow drying Ginger since I got her but I took her to the groomer the other day to ask about notching her ears and he stated that she was matted up and I need to brush her with a sliker I got one but she will not sit still for brushing and I have tried we set up a station with her leash secured to one spot above her and a plush rug under her so she isn't slipping and sliding on the dryer but she just wont stand still and just whins like I'm hurting her ...can you use a condishnor on her hair to help with any matting Sherrie |
