New Today! Cottony? 2 Attachment(s) So we are at the 6 and a half months mark with Teddi! Amazing how quickly their little faces mature...his coat is turning on his back to steel blue but am wondering if it will be silky because he is still a bit fluffy though he does feel silky on his head. |
Adorable. I love the first photo with the tongue. Buster's hair is still changing. He is blue grey past his front legs but is still black the rest of the way back. He is 18 months so I figure he is still changing. I still am not sure how to tell the difference between silk and cotton. |
I don't have an answer for you but just wanted to say your little guy is adorable! :) |
Silky "feels" silky, easily combed and brushed, shinny and feels cook to the touch. Cotton coats are generally dull, more of a cotton feel, matts easily and difficult to take care of if in full coat. |
My Nicco is silky on his face and head and woolly everywhere else. We keep him in a puppy cut and it is adorable, though I often wish we could grow it out a bit. |
feels "cool" to the touch. Sorry. |
He is exceptionally adorable! What were his parents? Silky or cotton? And the rest of his relatives -- grandparents, et al? |
Teddi is a cutie. My experience and knowledge are limited, but I can tell you with my Teddy that his coat was still puppy-ish when he turned 1 year old. Six months later, his coat is growing silkier every day. A couple of exhibitors have commented on YT that they have had a pup surprise them by turning silky later. Six months of age is still a little early in my opinion to determine exactly how the coat will mature. :) |

First ~ Thank you all for the wonderful compliments on Teddi! He is a wonderful little guy. My darling Gizmo was silky from the beginning with bright orange tan so I knew he would be silky. It's a bit different this time around. Teddi was as fluffy as...well...a teddi. It looks like it's growing in silky - feels like it too but you never know...:) Quote:

1 Attachment(s) I was on looking at this thread about 30 min. ago. It has me thinking on how to explain coat texture online. I understand about the "cool" feel. I have two Yorkies Lily and Mia Lily has a more cottony coat and Mia has a true silky coat. I just happened to catch them playing on my camera. Anyway here is the picture that made me think of you. Lily (cottony) is to the left, Mia (silky) is to the right. Not a great shot but maybe it will help |

It is funny that you posted this about your pup's coat. I really thought that Jamie would be cottony except on her face and head. However, at about 18 months I noticed that her coat was getting a lot more silky. Almost a month later, she is still getting silkier. They surprise you every day. I couldn't love her more no matter what, but I find it so interesting how they change. |
