Getting ready for Mardi Gras... 2 Attachment(s) Biscuit already has Christmas under control so I made his Mardi Gras outfit today. I had to share...I think it came out cute. :rolleyes: In case anyone is wondering he's yorkie x chinese crested(?) at least that's the best guess on what he's mixed with. :animal-pa |

OMG, Biscuit is DARLING!!!! He is really really cute! :D Is his back hairless, or do you have to shave him? Bella had a chinese crested playmate before we moved, so I know a little bit about them. That particular chinese crested grew a little hair on her back, but it was kind of....grisly?? It was pretty sparse anyway and because of the texture of it, her mommy just kept it shaved, which is what they do with most chinese cresteds (expect the powder puff ones ;)). If Biscuit goes out much, especially in the summer, he'll have to wear sunscreen on his back because he can get sunburned!! :p They make doggie sunscreen....I think it's a spray. You probably knew all that, though...I just get carried away! :rolleyes: P.S. The outfit you made is pretty amazing.....great job!! :thumbup: |
AllDogBoots....yep, it's pretty far down there LOL! bellasmomok...Thanks! I think he's cute but I'm bias. :) His back is not shaved. It really just has maybe a "fuzz" if you can call it that? It's basically non existent but he feels soft to the touch. I've actually been trying to figure out the best dog sunscreen to use. The vet had mentioned it to me but I'm just confused LOL! |
I'm a worrier, and I like to be prepared, so this is the stuff I got for Bella when we went on vacation, and I knew we were going to be in the sun a lot: Doggles Pet Sunscreen I didn't end up using it because we were able to stay in the shade...and in all honesty, she probably didn't need it anyway, but it made me feel better that I had it just in case!! :p When I got back from our trip, I gave it to the lady with the Chinese Crested because I figure she WOULD be able to use it! It's made by Doggles, and it can even be used on noses! Pink noses burn too...who knew?!! That won't apply to us because our babies have black noses, but you could spritz down his little back if you're going to be in the sun for more than 30 min. |
Sorry, it's actually cheaper here: Pet Health Products (it's non-toxic and safe for dogs, so if he were to lick it, it wouldn't harm him like human sunscreen might) |
Awesome! Thanks so much! I'll have to order some since summer is brutal on the humans around here. I'd hate to see a poor pup with sunburn. It's tough enough that he's always freezing... |
