Last week we discovered 3 baby kittens without their eyes open nestled in a corner at my mother-in-laws home. We checked on them daily. On Aug 9 my granddaughter called and said 2 of them were gone and the neighbor hadn't seem the mother cat since early in the morning. My 17 year old granddaughter loves animals as much as I do and took it home. It just so happened that her female yorkie was nursing a litter and decided to let the kitten nurse too. But mom put her foot down and Emilee called me to come at get the kitten as her stepdad is allergic to cats. 10 years ago I told my husband I could give up cats for a yorkie, and I did, and one yorkie lead to another, then another, and another, and so on and so forth. So I went to the store and got kitty milk, brought the kitten home and put her in the cage with Peanut, who wanted nothing to do with the kitten. The rest of the dogs clammered to see the new addition. One by one I put a female in with the kitten, it was Feebie who decided the kitten was HER baby. I hand feed and she does the rest, even acting like a protective mama, growling at the other dogs if they get too close.

I too am a sucker for strays. Over the years my kids would catch and bring home all sorts of animals to raise.

Of the three kittens that we found, this one was my favorite, I loved the color. I would love to keep it but 10 years ago I agreed to give up cats for yorkies. My husband is NOT a cat person but we had one anyway. We will have to see what happens when it gets old enough to move away. I am looking for a home for it.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Feebie is a great mama, even if she doesn't have a puppy baby.

Kitty update, she's doing great. She lets me know when she's hungry, she can crawl out of the cage and continues to meow until I pick her up or Feebie sticks her tongue out and gives her a kiss. She walks around the room, meow, meow, meow then I pick her up and put her back in the cage and she will stay there and fall asleep ONLY if Feebie is there with her.

The kitten is starting to purr and kneed the blanket. Love a purring kitty. She's getting a little difficult to feed, she really fights me and then all of a sudden she latches onto the bottle nipple and sucks away. She's walking all around the family room as the dogs simply ignore her.

Today the kitty went to visit the vet, not for an appointment but to meet kitty's new owner to be, the vet's 11 year old grandson. We also discovered that kitty is a HE. Hopefully he will start on solid foods this week. As usual, I'm getting way to attached. He has been nursing off of Feebie but not sure if he's getting anything. Still bottle feeding but he's fighting it all the way. My hand looks like it's been through a war with all the scratches but worth it. He is also starting to play with the puppies. Not sure is he thinks he's a yorkie or the yorkies think they are cats.

Thanks, the last picture is puppy Rylee playing with kitty. My favorite is where Feebie is licking the kitty's face. I was excited to see that I acturally captured her tongue out caring for kitty.
