First Welcome to YT. Your new girl is absolutely adorable. I hope you do take the time to browse this site, and read up on some things, from health care and training for your Yorkie, to bows and grooming. A wealth of information. Look at the vaccination protocols for toy dogs . there is a sticky on here for that. Dr. Jean Dodds. Also look at some testing you might consider for your wee one when she is a bit older. BTW I live in Toronto. LA is a destination place I'd love to visit. |
She weighs between 5-6 pounds now. She turned 4 in Feb. She's the dark one in my avatar. :D My baby girl. Oh, I know what you mean. We had no idea about pet stores, puppymills, puppybrokers or backyard breeders when we got Mia. We had a black lab (Lucky) for 12+ years and really never thought about ever coming into contact with any of the above. I was just in so much pain over having to put Lucky down that I just thought I'd stop at Petland and "look" at the puppies. I had NO intention of buying one. Hmmm... all I had to do was hold my little Mia and I don't think I put her down after that. They lied to me though. They post all over that they don't get their puppies from puppymills but they do. Again, the biggest one is The Hunte Corporation. After I realized where Mia came from I would just look at her and cry - thinking about the conditions her Mom & Dad had to live in. It doesn't change how much I love her - just how much I hate pet stores for buying from puppybrokers who are getting them from the puppymillers - who are all making money off these dogs. Let me just ask you this... if you happened to have a litter of puppies would you just sell the whole litter to a pet store? Could you really trust them to find a loving and safe home for the puppies? Do you think that they check out these people who are buying the puppies? Would you want these little pups being sold to someone who breeds them every heat for years? I bet you wouldn't... so who is? People who are mass breeding. People who are doing this for a living. Puppymillers. Believe me - someone who loves their dog and cares about where their puppies go after they leave them do not sell their dogs to pet stores. Pet stores want them cheap so that they can make money off of them - plain and simple. (I hope you don't take this wrong. I'm just trying to give you some information - not a lecture.) Here's some info if you want to check it out. Please give that little girl a big kiss from me! :) Petstore Cruelty View Investigation Report The Hunte Corporation Or Petland Review | Rip-off Report #454892 The Voice for Dogs.org~~ News Headlines~~The Hunte Corporation has no qualms about shipping sick or genetically inferior puppies. The drivers goal is to return with an empty truck...no matter what they need to do to get someone to take a sick or lame |
No not at all i appreciate all the info. Like you said, if thats the case, THEY LIED but it doesnt change how much we love our little Fifi. What youre saying makes sense. Im going to pick up the papers from the store and cll hem out on a bunch of this. Im going to ask them to prove its from a breeder. Thank you very much! And Mia is beautifullllllll LOL. i love her coat!! They told us Fifi will not be about 4lbs fully grow, MAYBE a bit more. they said s wont be over 5lbs but based on the size of puppies it looks like hes going to be a bit bigger maybe? To me it doesnt matter i jut dont like being lied to. My fiance asked them for a dog that will stay under 4lbs and they said YEAH YEAH this one. I dont care if Fifi gets to be 80lbs (lol) ill love her the same its just principal of being lied to and SOLD. You know what i mean? I agree, next time NO STORES no matter what. |
Thank you for the fo, this site is great!! Better to talk to loving people who have YT's as part of their families than "professional" looking to make money. I will look over this site constantly from health to training to grooming. Thanks everyone! |
What a little doll baby! Her pictures put a smile on my face...she is too cute for words! Congrats! |

Oh wait, maybe I didn't say it clear but the pedigree will show that it came from a breeder - it just won't say that the breeder breeds commercially. I found The Hunte Corp in several places - one within her paperwork and the other on the pedigree but I'll dig it out and tell ya exactly where I found it later. Yea, they told me that Mia was going to be really small and charged me for it. Then they said that she had been a "special order" from some lady here in town but that the lady never came to get her - so they added that on to her price too - at the register! Well, I was already nuts over her and they knew it. I would have never let that happen if I were purchasing something else! There really is no way to tell you exactly how much a Yorkie will weigh - kinda like people. Long time breeders who have/or know the parents, grandparents, and great grandparents will have an idea because they have studied the line when they were "planing" their breedings BUT when you get a pup from any other source that hasn't been involved in/know the line - they won't have any idea what the puppies will weigh. But this is stuff we all have had to learn - and mostly from this site and the knowledgable people on here. Thank You for the compliment about Mia - we love her dearly. |
Your baby is too adorable, awww:love: I used this site to find out where my Luna came from. PetShopPuppies.org I knew that buying from a pet store was wrong, but my husband wouldn't listen to me. Then Luna almost died from hypoglycemia and had all kinds of other things going on, and he now finally believes me:rolleyes: Men:laugh: Anyway, we were able to get the vet bill reimbursed from the pet store, after me basically harassing the woman every single day until she wrote me a check. I cashed it right away, as I had a feeling she'd put a stop payment on it, she was so shifty! So we paid $1100 for her, the vet bill was $750ish, so I hope that really cut into her profit margin! Probably not, they get these puppies from the millers for SO cheap, incredible markup. For what we spent, we could have gotten a pup from a good breeder. Lesson learned! Still love our girl, but hate that we contributed in any way to the mills:( Anyway, we love our girl to bits and will never regret getting her. We just won't ever buy from a pet store again. They ALL lie and say that their dogs come from "reputable, small breeders" If that were true, they wouldn't make any money from them. Don't feel bad now, you didn't know and now ya do;) Welcome btw:D!!!! |

Oh, I also wanted to add: Many of us learned after the fact that our pups did not come from the best of beginnings. That can help make better choices in the future, but for now you just need to focus on giving her the best care and loving her to pieces (that's the easy part). She's your precious little baby, so don't let anything dampen the love and happiness that you have found in adorable Fifi. Just enjoy her. |
She will be loved the same way regardless. Shes a great little rascal and nothing will dampen our love for her. It just dampens my patience for idiots who do this to living creatures to profit for their own selfish needs. I guess thats the world we live in and all we can do is learn from this and make adjustments next time and let our voices be heard etc. Thanks for all the supports everyone :) |
