Bijou's new hair cut...did her myself :o) 1 Attachment(s) I've been dying to get Bijou's hair cut in this style since I seen someone post a picture of their baby styling it on here a few months back. I was too scared to do it myself so I called a mobile groomer (figure they are stuck w/me sitting in as no one's getting my baby alone) they couldn't get me in until July! So I decided to try doing this cut myself last week and tighten it up today. I'm so pleased at how well it came out :p What do you all think? |
You did an excellent job! Bijou looks great! |

Bijou looks great and I want to see more pictures please. Also share with us other wannabe groomers, what type of clipper did you use and what size blades? |
Beautiful job! Beautiful! And no trauma from going to the groomers. I'd like to know what clippers and combs you used, too? You've inspired me! My little Stoney is only 7 months old, and I haven't taken him to the groomers yet. His hair is about 4 1/2 inches long, and in Oklahoma it's hot! I love his soft hair, but I love him more. I was thinking maybe 1 inch long. I used to trim my poole myself with an Oster shaver and different guards. Mine didn't turn out nearly as good yours did! But, she would be trembling when I picked her up at the groomers, and I decided her peace was more important that a perfect cut. |
Gorgeous!!!!! Hermosa!!!! Bellisima!!! You did a excellent job, even better than some "groomers" |
Right on Baby....you did a marvelous job...:thumbup: I do my own grooming also but I am always thrilled to see someone new try it... |
1 Attachment(s) Thank You Everyone!!!! Sorry I couldn't get my Driod phone to get on last night long enough to reply. But I'm sooo glad everyone loves it. The feeling was like the time I cut my long hair to short hair. LOL Actually I think I was more nervous as she's my little doll baby :D I studied a picture I save from another yter's baby's cut and used it as my guide to do the cut. I'll attach the photo, so if someone recognizes her please let me know who she is so I can thank them for posting her picture. There's no way Bijou's cut would look so good if I didn't have that picture to keep referring back to! Quote:

I'm gonna try and answer both your questions at once. I got the Oster advanced clipper set from Walmart. It was $40 but the blade design is suppose to be a tug-free blade (that's what sold me on it...didn't want my babies in any pain). I started off w/the biggest guide and kept going to a smaller guide once I seen it was looking the way I wanted it to. I actually finished her up yesterday with just the blade (in the forward position so it'd cut courser hair, not fine hair...does that make sense?) Basically I didn't want to scalp her, but wanted the closer smooth look. It took me about 2 hours the first night and then finishing her up only took about 5 minutes yesterday. The other thing I do that I think helps a lot is I don't lay the back of the blade on her, I hold it in a forward angle..kinda so the blade is straight up and down on her. This keeps you from cutting too close and getting that choppy / stepped kind of look. Would pictures help more? Let me know and I'll be very glad to help you all learn to do it too. I'm still shocked at how wonderful she looks running in the yard with her little leg hair flowing everywhere LOL Yeah, she's loved. Thanks again!!! |
Perfect!!, what a model:p |
You did a great job! I just got my new clippers and worked on my girls tonight. I don't really have them finished but didn't want to stress them out too much either so just did a little bit and I'll finish in a day or two! I hope I do as good as you did! |
She looks so precious! |
Thanks everyone! I really think Bijou's loving the cut too. She seems more bouncy now :D If anyone wants more info or pictures to try the cut yourself please just pm me and I'll happily help anyway I can. |
Greeeeeeeat JOB! |
Great Haircut! Adorable! |
I'm no where near ready to be cutting her hair yet. She is 4 months old and hasn't gone to the groomers yet. She is going to the groomers for the first time next week. Once her puppy coat is gone, I would like to cut her hair myself also. The only thing that makes me nervous is cutting around her privates. I know they say there is a special way to do this??? How do you know what to do? (Don't mind me...I'm new to all of this!) |
You did a great job! It looks a lot like the haircut I gave Couver a couple weeks ago. I agree with you... I'm not willing to allow my baby to be alone with the groomer after the horror stories I've heard on here :( |
Thank u all! I recently trimmed her again and its so much easier the second time. Quote:
