For those of you who have asked- I have tried to get a close as picture as possible of my Roxie. I hope this works because I have never done this before. If you look closely you will see a little wave/curl to her fur. At almost 10 months she is still 95% black on her body. I of course LOVE her to death but her coat just takes more time to keep the tangles under control and I doubt she will ever the silky look but it makes her no less SPECIAL to me.

Mickey and Minnie are both over a year and they are still black Minnies got such a soft coat and Mickeys is thick and rough. but no waves.

I think Roxie is just a doll and like her coat. Roxie looks very healthy and happy. :p

Schatzie has a cottony coat also mixed in with a silky coat. :confused:

Thank you so much! Her coat is a challenge. :rolleyes: Her head and legs are more silky- with her belly and sides soft and slightly cotton, but right smack in the middle of her back she has a very slight wave pattern that you can see a few days after a bath. After a bath she is fluffly instead of silky straight. She could have had a part in Star Wars as a ewok :eek:( no one would had known she was a yorkie :lol tears ) after a bath and especially as a puppy. :animal36

All the advice I have gotten from Yorkie Talk has been a blessing.

I have a cotton coated girl - Chanel....and it IS work but really grows in pretty - you little girl is ADORABLE !! She is really pretty and thank you for sharing her picture - I can say now that Chanel is 3 years old - if you keep up with her hair - when it gets long it's REALLY pretty - Cotton or Silky...we just make the most of what they have - Cotton does tangle easier but is just beautiful if you can keep up ~!

What a cutie! She can be Winston's sister... they look so much alike.... :D I use Nutrogena's Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner on Winston after CC Day to Day shampoo and before the CC After Bath. Boy, his coat is so shiny, sliky, and smells nice even a week after his bath. His baby coat is kind of switching I guess... his black is all mixed in with blue gray fuzz.

That looks just like my yorkie. He is 6 mos and has no sign of color change on his back where he is black. His head is turning silver though and thats just fine by me.

She's 4 yrs old and I think it gets easier to deal with in time.. I've used the ice on ice which seems to help some..

Villette, I can only hope my Roxie looks as beautiful as your Chanel one day. Plus, it would be awesome if she got some of Air Chanel's aerobotic skills too! :p

Ahhhh...THANK YOU that was so sweet of you to say - and on the Aerobics ? I think Chanel learned that from when she was an only child and just HAD to be doing what I do - when I grew my 1st garden ....she ended up playing while I watered it ...she IS funny in the hose ! :)

are both my boys and they are now 19 months old. Bengie is very long and silky (and hates the brush most times) and Garrett has the cottony, wavy coat, especially on his butt, also his ears are a total flop. But they both are my boys, love them to death.

I always thought Kiki looked a lot like Chanel... I really like the cotton coated looks but I know its hard to maintain. My avatar pic is of her daughter and I'm hoping she will look just like her mom.

Looks like my Mandy too. She is 9 months now and her back is totally black and a sooty gray on her head. Coat is thick a :D nd black.

I love the richness of the darker colors and that usually means softer coats and a little (or lots) of extra grooming time. But the color and sheen is a thing of pride. If her hair gets too, too thick and you need it thinned, you can part the coat front to back in rows about 1 inch apart. The hair just below the part can be thinned with thinning shears. Happens more often that you know -, err, well, where the coat is part of the judging..

I agree Rini - I thin Chanels hair ALL the time - I have to or she would be a walking Cousin It.....

She is so pretty! Hallie has that same hair ;) that is why I keep her short! I think her coloring is stunning and I love the pic where it looks like she is smiling!
