We just had a little trim. I'm going to keep Brooklyn in a long coat, but I had them trim her ears and face. She's now five and a half months old. She's so small I was afraid to take her. She's just 2 lbs. 5 ounces. They were very gentle with her. I stayed and watched. I"m going to be a wreck Jan. 25 when she goes in for her spay:( E.

She is too adorable!!! I am not sure if this is a good idea or not but why don't you wait a few more months and maybe she'll gain some weight before the spay? We had Chase neutered at 8 months. He was 4 pounds at 5 months and 7 pounds at 8 months. I know you want to spay b4 her first heat but I think you may have some time before that. Again--I am no expert but it's just something you may want to look into.

It might be part of her contract to have her spayed at 6 or 7 months.

Awwww, Brooke looks simply darling!! What beautiful coloring she has and such a sweet face and expression!!! Too cute for words! Thanks for sharing.

She sure has a pretty little face! I think her little trim is nice. I am glad they were gentle with her. When Daisy was that age, I started taking her in once a month just for ear, feet, and sani trim to get her used to someone else grooming her. Now she gets all excited when we pull up at the groomer's shop.

I don't think she'll hit 3 lbs. The breeder said in her lines they slow down almost to a stop at around 5 months. The vet said he thinks she'll stop growing at around 6 months. She is right now 2 lbs. 5 ounces. Very short body with tiny little legs and itty bitty face. Looks like a Guinea Pig. And, Breeze, no we did not have a spay contract. Her papers are limited. We just believe in having them spay or neutered. IDK what to do. Do you think we should wait? Vet said she'll be fine. That they will do her first and have her up and eating by noon and then right home. He said main concern with little ones this size is keeping them warm and getting them to eat. IOh and breeder said she won't hit heat until around a year old but vet said it's really a gamble.

sounds as though your vet is pretty confident and versed in smaller animals. That is a plus. Maggie May was just under 3 lbs when she got spayed and did fine. She was in a bit of paint he first night and was still a little quiet the 2nd day. By day 3 she was pretty much back to her old self--terror. lol

Just kidding. If your vet is experienced with the little ones and they are going to do her early so she can wake up and not fast too long I would say that is a good game plan. Easy for me to say as it's in the past for me. Best of luck whatever you decide. :)

What a gorgeous little darling you have, love her colors. My vet wanted to wait until Zhoie was at least 7 mos. He said safe on the little ones until closer to 9mos. Such a little sweetings you got there.

Brooke is absolutely adorable. The trim job is perfect.....just enough and what an adorable face. As far as the spayed, I am with you about being so nervous. It sounds like you have a great vet, my vet wants to keep my baby overnight. :tongue4: I just don't know.

Has she continued to gain weight since you have had her? If so, I would wait alittle longer to see if she puts on more weight. I do agree though not to wait too long, What a difficult decision. Let us know what you decide.

I have been holding off on my girls spay... she will be done next week at just over 9 months old... since the likelihood of her going into heat before a year was small I decided to let her grow more before spaying, as opposed to spaying at 6 months.

Thanks for the compliment on Brooklyn. I'd be worried about leaving her overnight. Most vets do not have anyone that stays the night so she'd be alone all night anyway. I'd insist on bringing her home with me even if before closing. I think you can monitor her better. As far as weight we got her at around 16 weeks old. She was 1.7 when we took her home. Since then she has gone up to 2.5 but that came steady and now nothing in a long time.

Thank you all so much for the compliments on Brooklyn and your input on spaying. We have five rescues and Brooke was the first one we bought. I can't tell you how she has captured not only my heart but also my husband's heart. He calls her the midget. And, whenever we call "Where's the midget." Brooke comes running. LOL. And, my crew have been so good with her. They know she's much smaller then them and they are very gentle. And, she is a 2 lbs. bully. LOL. Thanks again. Elaine
