These little boys look wonderful to me; haven't seem them in person yet, and I'm wondering what any of you with more experience than I have think of them? They're actually in my area and the breeder is asking 500. Isn't this an unusually good price? He's been a breeder for 20 years, and has both parents on site. Says they're both great dogs... Thanks for any advice/input/comments. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork

They are so cute! For around where I live, $500 is pretty common for a pet quality yorkie. Did it not work out with the other little girl?

Pretty hard to tell by a picture, but if both parents are "on site" you will get a pretty good idea of what you will have. Again, pretty hard to tell about or by price. I have seen some for a few hundred that were terrific pets, and some for thousands that....well, I'll just say, someone over paid because it was a "Yorkie". Let's face it, most of want a pet to love and be loved in return and you can really get that from any dog. Look for health, good bones, teeth and attitude. A Yorkie will give you all the love you could ever want with a little love in return. Look at the surroundings of where your future pet is, if it is friendly, go for the one the goes to you, not the one you go to. If the parents are there you have it made. You are seeing what your getting. Be sure your new baby has a health certificate and get him/her to your vet as soon as possible. There is nothing like the love of a Yorkie.

Just as I've been worried about, they've decided to get professional help for her aggression toward their other dog. Don't remember if I told you, but their other dog is a Lhasa Apso who has epilepsy and since it had a seizure in front of the Yorkie, she's been very aggressive toward it. They also have 3 children who don't want to part with her, so while they were on vacation for the past couple of weeks someone suggested they get professional help for her to see if that will fix the situation. She'll keep me updated, but as I've been waiting 3 weeks already, I'm ready to move on. I'd still love to take her if it ever works out, but sick of waiting. Cried my eyes out when I finally got her email last night telling me of their decision! :(

My suggestion would be to go to the breeders home and check out his breeding situation and if you like what you see and want one of the puppies, then have him get the puppy Vet. checked and give you the paper from the Vet. Also have an agreement drawn up if the breeder doesn't have one. You can get ideas on what to write up from any of the reputable breeders here on YT. It really doesn't matter if you pay $500.00 or $5000.00, but whether the puppy is a nice solid healthy one, because it will be a family member for many years, hopefully.

Just a question for the experts: These puppies in the pictures have "droopy" ears. Does that mean they are maybe not purebred? Or maybe they are too young?

I got my girl at the age of 14 weeks and she already had her ears up, so I wouldn't know what a younger yorkie puppy would look like.

I know some Yorkies' ears never stand up, like the photo in my avatar - that's the little girl I was hoping to get. She's 14 months old and I don't think her ears will ever stand up at this point - these two little guys aren't ready to leave their home yet, so they're very young. Breeder said they'd be ready in a few weeks. I've emailed to ask their age, and will hear later today, but I thought from the way they look that their ears probably will stand up. Again, this would be my first Yorkie, so I'm an absolute novice, but I think they look kind of perky already, and maybe will stand as they get a little older?

Baxter is pure-bred and his ears never stood up. He can pick them up if he wants but he's lazy! His mother's ears were straight up but his father's ears weren't. i just couldn't stand to tape them.

There you are. Wow if they are around you go and check them out. Yes the price sounds good. But you will know if they are the right one. Get all the information you can about them.
